You kinda don't. If you played drg in pvp and do Elusive Jump near the edge of a cliff, you hit the ground with no dmg.

I don't know what happened to the lore on this because they started putting huge 500ft drops into dungeons that all jobs take without damage. Like rabanastre > garamsythe waterway > lesalia, and the big drop in st mocciane's arboretum. So now everybody can selectively fall unlimited heights without harm at scripted moments but still get badly hurt falling from random places that aren't scripted @.@.

Well, Dragoons are trained to jump extremly high, attack the enemy from above and negate fall damage during this kind of attack....so wouldnt it be logical if they can use it when falling from anywhere else?
Sure, from like 1000ft they would still be flat on the ground like a pancake, but maybe at least reduce the fall damage?
To jumping heigher....i dont think a DRG would waste its power to just jump heigher, they are dragon killers, prepared to protect and stricke when needed so they need thier powers for future combat.
Lowering or negate fall damage is to protect themself, a hurt DRG or even killed DRG cant protect and attack.
