DISGUSTING BANDWIDTH DURING PEAK JAPANESE PLAYTIME

SE needs to do something about their disgusting bandwidth issues during peak Japanese playing time.

Does Square-Enix really think that their only worthwhile players are the Japanese.

I've been suffering R0 spikes during Japanese Standard Time 5:00pm to 01:00am consistently for months. And NEVER outside these hours.

WHEN IS THIS GOING TO BE FIXED? (no, i'm not racist, i just hate the fact that SE doesnt appear to consider anywhere else in the world relevant)

This is the reasoning that I used behind this.

I'm assuming SE has it set up where there is a database hosted in several parts of the world. NA players are stored in a NA database. This way, when a user does something that would require they interact with the database, it is quicker to respond. For example, if a NA player kills a mob. +1 kill goes in the database under the user's information.

Now, my assumption is that mobs are stored in a database as well. I figure that the database they are stored in changed depending on the time of day. So a NM may by in the NA database during NA peak times, and then the JP database during JP peak times. This is so that no one location has a distinct advantage over others.

This is what they would do if they are smart. I'm assuming they do it this way. If so, this would explain your lag during different time zones. It would also imply that we NA would have a 250-300ms advantage over JPs during NM claims in NA peak times, and the opposite during JP time.

I have heard from several in game players that there is only 1 server, and that's in Japan. And that SE is going to place 0 servers anywhere else in the world. Therefore there are no NA EN or US servers.

Pushing NM or mob stuff aside, the lag spikes i get from 5pm JST to 01:00 JST the following morning occur any time a simple act is taking place: synthing, logging, mining, fishing. Lag spikes range from a few seconds to MINUTES!

MS from US and Japan is like 200ms. I totally doubt they have 1 single server. That would be like 400ms just to see a mob pop, and another 400 ms to hit it. If that was the case, they would have to intentionally LAG anyone with a lower MS so that everyone's MS was essentially 200 ms.

They have only one server cluster and no current plans to split it. End of story.

As far as the lag spikes during JP prime time go, I don't get any.

I also get absolutely no lag spikes during those peak hours. Which leads me to believe that maybe the problem the OP has isn't, yaknow, a problem with FF14.

It's their garbage servers. I've only been logged on during the severe times on a handful of occassions, but if I'm in Uldah I can't even bring up the party search menu; it just freezes. Talk about ghetto.

The servers are all in Japan... but this doesn't result in increased latency during Japanese peak playtime. It really doesn't matter too much where the servers are. Yes those outside Japan have increased latency but anything under 200 ms shouldn't be a factor.

One could argue the best place to locate the servers would be a location like Hawaii except European players would become the most disadvantaged.

When they had everyone post their latency info for something, i forget. Everyone in the UK, US etc had like 200-300ms. I checked the JP forum and they all had a max of like 20ms lol..

Getting the entire world to come together with a perfect overall ms with only one server is highly doubtful. But, getting SE to move that server is even more doubtful.

Im sure it will improve with 2.0. Just need to wait it out.

Now, to the OP. I know TONS of ppl that have latency issues but I seriously have none. On occasion I will have a spike but mostly I got good signal during any part of the day. Iv tested this in different places in the world, IE: Cities, Dungeons etc.. and while ppl are d/cing im sitting there waiting on them. Also, ppl might not want to admit it. Im not sure. But I have some top of the line internet that I pay a lot for. Im not saying your internet is cheap or worthless but honestly.. Some of these latency issues might be on your end as well. Just a thougth and I hope it improves for ya!
