    Eureka NMs and DoT issues

    This is mostly from a Summoner's perspective. DoT's not applying has been an issue basically the whole game lifetime so far. But now with Eureka and NM's its even worse. One of the core aspects of Summoner is applying Bio III and Miasma III and using Fester. Fester only deals damage IF the DoT's are applied. This ties in with Summoners other mechanic of gathering Aethertrail to then go into Dreadwyrm Trance, it was recently updated to still give you stacks of Aethertrail even if you dont do damage with Fester.

    My point:
    Its very annoying to throw up Tri-Disaster and the DoT's not apply or to manually cast them and they still dont apply. Almost every NM I fight mostly resorts to me using Painflare(which sometimes then pulls the adds that everyone seems to ignore....) and Energy Drain. Anyone else have this issue? Can the Devs do anything about this?

    The reason is due to the cap of DoTs applicable to a single enemy by various players, which I believe is 20? If your DoTs are not applying then the enemy has the maximum allowed DoTs on it already. All I can suggest when you can't apply DoTs is wait until some expire and hope you get yours in when that happens or just focus on bursting the thing down.

    I have been having this issue from a Bard's perspective as well.

    Some of my skills revolve around proc-ing off of DoT crits, and there're many times that when I use Stormbite and Vemonbite, the dot will not register and the text "Has no effect" will display in the flying text. This will cause me to have to use those skills 5-8 times in a row before they finally get applied and I have to do this for two skills. To make things worse, Iron Jaws also faces the same "Has no effect" issues therefore causing me to have to spam Iron Jaws for both dots to refresh. This is problematic that much like Fester, Sidewinder deals damaged based off the number of dots you have successfully applied.

    In addition, from a MCH point of view. There have been issues where there're so many players at the NM, that the game doesn't register you in battle on occasion and makes both Flamethrower and Barrel Stabilizer unable to be used because your enmity is so low vs the 100 other bodies there.

    I know there is a limit, it just seems lazy that they dont adjust the system to make certain jobs whos core system is DoT's to take priority over those who arent the core system. I really hate using Painflare due to the fact that people ignore all adds and they run rampant and usually come towards me when I use it, not always but it does happen.

    I totally forgot about Bard! Yes it seems its more problematic than just an issue with Summoner. Constantly casting the DoT over and over hoping for it to land is very bad design and really makes the damage put out lower, not good for a system that relies on contribution through damage amount.

    Pretty much everyone is getting screwed in some way by the massive zergtrains. Abilities that require you to be engaged (WAR Infuriate, etc) might not even work because you aren't even being registered as being on the enemy's hate list, sometimes the mob outright doesn't load, party members are disappearing and can't be targeted by direct heals as a result, etc. Until they discourage or reduce/prevent the zergtrains altogether, don't expect anything to be done about your particular issue.

    We all knew this was an issue from other content that has been zerged. The devs should have known this content would be zerged given 2.0 Northern Thanalan FATE trains, Odin/Ixion/etc, S rank hunts, and so on. They also knew DoTs didn't apply because of the massive number of players in that sort of content, and they were reminded again with Diadem 1.0. Yet they still designed Eureka to repeat that stuff.

    In short, they've learned nothing and keep repeating the same mistakes. It hasn't been fixed in years and they still design content to encounter the problem, so don't get your hopes up.

    Most jobs make use of DoTs for their DPS. Beyond that the DoTs are player individual, so if you had like a dozen Summoners throwing their DoTs then the limit would still prevent all 12 from throwing up their DoTs. Sure it's bothersome but unless SE raises or removes the limit there is nothing that can be done.

    All jobs make use of DoTs for their DPS.
    RDM doesn't.

    There's probably some others. I know WAR got Fracture taken away; I can't remember if they had any other DOTs.

    Warrior, Dark Knight, Red Mage, and Machinist don't use DoTs, at least as far as the applied status kind.

    Edit: Don't take this comment as me justifying any bit of this issue. Stormblood culled DoTs from classes all over, supposedly because of this very reason. So Dark Knight isn't allowed to have Scourge back because of DoT overload but it's still happening anyway, huh?
