FC Housing - Is a small plot good enough for a very small FC?

Hello everyone. I have a question. Our FC just hit rank 6 so we can finally get a house and I was wanting to know if a small plot would work okay or should we save for a medium one? It's really only a three person guild, mainly for family/friends and if we do add more people it probably won't be more than one or two. So what are the perks of a medium plot vs a small one? Would a small one be big enough for just us three? Is it really woth it to save up for a larger one? Two of us have been playing for a bit longer, the other one is new to the game and not lv. 50 yet so really between two of us we maybe have 7 million gil or so. I'm working on my crafting atm but it's gonna take a while before I can start making good gil and I'm worried if I don't go ahead and get a plot soon then there might not be any left. I don't think we'd need anything too big but what do you'll think? Any and all help is much appreciated. Thank you.

Small is TOTALLY great for FCS under 15members in my opinion. I'd personally get a nice small and fill it up with furnishings. It can easily run you 5-10m to fill up the inside. I wouldn't even consider getting a medium until you have a comfortable savings of 30+m

I don't know if there is a company workshop bonus that comes from larger houses (I suspect not, but someone who knows better could correct me). The main perks of a larger house are more decorating space and an additional garden, so more plots for crossbreeding. If you're leveling crafts, you can also put more crafting stations in a larger house. That's about it, though. For a FC that small, I think a small house would do just fine, and you could always save up and upgrade to a medium later on if you find you want more room.

Large FC homes function the same way that smaller ones do. There is no company workshop bonus associated with larger homes. You can have two gardening plots with a medium home and three with a large. Larger homes also allow you to place more crafting stations (limited usefulness) and additional npcs (I think). If housing is very limited on your server, I would go ahead and purchase a small plot. You can always relocate later.

As others have said, function-wise you're not really losing anything by going for a small house - you can still have:
    - a fully functioning FC-workshop with the maximum amount of airships and submarines
    - the option to buy private chambers
    - a chocobo stable in the garden, aswell as other "useful" furniture just as a mailbox, an aerthyte, a training-dummy and a garden-bed

You're losing out a bit on the number of gardens you can have (only one for a smalle house, but if it only needs to sustain three people, you should be fine!) aswell as on "useful" indoor-items (there is a limit on the amount of crafting-stations you can place, they're giving your crafters a buff and are a little bit helpful during leveling but thats about it. They've increased the number of NPCs you can place in a small house recently, so you should be fine with getting all the important ones in! Note that the Butler/Maid/Hokonin sells some cheap furniture! Very, very helpful while decorating)

So a bigger house pretty much only gives you more space to decorate - but if you're already struggeling gil-wise, you are most likely fine with filling up a smaller space first.
Personally I've also made the experience that its easier to change a small house around - so I'd say thats more ideal for a small FC where everyone would like to get a shot at decorating at somepoint. I recently decorated my own mansion and I can tell you: I'm not gonna change that anytime soon since it would be an aweful lot of effort to remodel just one floor.
With the old small FC-house we could easly change around one floor in an afternoon to give it a new vibe, allowing more people to try their hands on that content! Now my FC has a mansion aswell and its kinda tricky to allow for everyone to decorate and still have it all fit together...

OK thank you everyone. A small plot it is. I wasn't sure what all you would get if you had a larger plot but it doesn't sound like it's enough at this time to warrant us waiting especially if we can eventually still get the same number of airships/submarines. We don't care too much about crafting stations atm. I'm really the only crafter and all my crafting classes are already at 60 so those would really only be for me right now. And I've got what, four npc's in my apartment already and I really don't use more than that so that shouldn't be a problem. And yeah, we're struggling a bit gil wise.

Oh, I have one more set of questions. FC members have to be 50 to be able to get their own room don't they? Also If I bought a plot in one of the newer zones: Stormblood or Heavensward would our member who's under 50 even be able to travel there to see the place or help decorate? I think I'll stick to one of the original ARR areas just in case. Thanks so much for the great info you'll.

In order to buy a room a player will need:
    -to be level 50
-to have reached the rank of Second Lieutenant in their respective Grand Company
-have 300.000 gil lying around that they're willing to spend on buying the room

Should you relocate your house, those rooms will be relocated aswell - even in their state they're in, like with all furniture in the right place etc.
Obviously the rooms will be lost though, should your FC lose the house or the person leaves the FC.

    To answer the second question:
There is no Heavensward housing area, but that aside: as long as you place an Aertyhe (available from your GC and an item you really, really want) in the garden, so that they can teleport to the house, they'll be able to access any housing zone even if they dont have the general area unlocked yet. A level 1 character starting in Ul'dah could teleport to Mist/Lavender Beds/Shirogane as soon as teleport as action is unlocked. I'm only 95% certain, but I think even people who havent bought Stormblood are able to teleport to Shirogane. (Note however that they're not able to leave the housing area for Kugane and cant take the ferry back to Limsa - they'll have to teleport out again)
As long as your people can teleport to the house, you can build it anywhere you want, they'll have access to it!

Small! My FC upgraded to medium (with my gil) and even we have almost 30 members no one uses the house so I feel likeI wasted a lot of money since no one appreciates the effort I put in it.

I bought a small plot. I was really wanting a place at Lavender beds but then I found the sweetest plot in the Goblet. It's I think ward 12, plot 20. It's right next to a big waterfall, is sort of over by itself and right across from it is this big gazeebo. I payed a lot more for the plot than I had planned on. I was just going to buy some dinky plot for like 1.7 mil gil but that waterfall.....lol. So Is spent around 3.6 mil. I figure if I'm gonna spend the gil I might as well be somewhere that I like and that plot just stuck out to me. I looked at all the places real carefully before deciding on that one.

Of course now I can't afford the workshop or personal rooms yet. If I did I'd be flat broke so I'll just save up. Ty all again for answering my questions and for all the help. I'm really glad we got a small one. I think a medium would be way too much for us right now. I guess I'll have to buy a stable at some point so everyone can train their chocobo's? Lots to do.

Congrats on that gob 20. That's one of the best smalls in game, hands down. Take it slow, and save up while upgrading. Housing furniture can run several millions of Gil easy. Be sure to buy the Choco stables from the housing npc, and NOT the market board. It's 125k, and there are two housing NPCs that sell it and other basic stuff. One is INSIDE the lobby of the apartment building. Other should be at the opposite entrance to goblet.
