I don't think I've had any issues with dying to invisible AoEs yet, though think that's mostly because of other players soaking them for me due to the AoE limit. I have had strange instances of getting hit and visibly displaying damage that should've killed me without actually losing HP, though.
This. I should be able to turn down the amount of characters displayed on my screen and the game should prioritize in this order : ME, Enemies, NPC's, Party Members, everyone else.
I should know where I am at all times, where the things that can hurt me are and what they're doing, my ingame allies and what they're doing, my party members and what they're doing. THEN the game can worry about the bard doing the faint emote over and over so it looks like he's humping me.
