I can not complete this quest which wants me to turn in 99 Grade 1 Carbonized Matters. Why? Because they don’t exist in the game anymore.

They do still exist in the game - solely for the purpose of the level 20 BTN and MIN quests.

Gathering log doesn't provide coordinates.

They do provide area, then you can use your skill to show the way to the highest node in the area. and that will lead you to the precise location, its not that hard dear. I've done it several times now. The only problem you have is like in central shroud where the botany nodes of several levels are so closely packed.
Though if you want to be lzy and get precise locations have a look on ffxiv.gamerescape.com

One way to make gil is either buy up moogle whiskers or farm them i the months leading up to a patch that increases housing.
All those new house owners will need a mailbox. With the release of shirogane the ex wiskers went for like 1m

Grade 1 carbonized matter is market prohibited, but you can trade it.

If you don't feel like gathering it by Aleport in Western La Noscea, you could commission someone to gather it for you.
