    Additional Macro Idea

Now before everyone starts yelling to the high seas, yes I know the idea I am about to propose is from WoW, that is ok, because it is a good idea.

In WoW, you can make macros like any other MMO, but the good thing about how they do it is after you have created the macro you can put an icon on it and name it. Again, yes I know we can already do that. But something that they did with it in WoW that isn't done in XIV is being able to set that macro to the action bar.

Riffling through the action bar for scattered abilities is tough as is. Going through macros with the cursor (controller) or holding down the ctrl or alt buttons (keyboard) is also a bit challenging in the heat of battle, like Ifrit about to set off Hellfire for example.

If we were able to set an entire macro to our action hot bar, I'm not saying the world would instantly become an easier place, but things would flow much smoother.

    Just a thought ^.^

My understanding of the current infrastructure is that what you recommended is not feasible.

In 2.0, I believe the team IS looking for a more flexible interface.

    My expectations on Action Bars:
Action bars saved based on our class.
Click and drag actions to different positions on the action bar.
An option to have multiple action bars visible simultaneously.
To place macros on any of our action bars.
To remove abilities from our action bars.

It was extremely convenient to have my macro's set to any place on the action bar. I think they try to emulate that with the controller, where you hold R2/L2 (or equivalent) and choose away, but unlike WoW those macros don't transfer computers, which I assumed it would and completely wiped a moogle fight because I didn't have em to direct the group :P

It's a small issue in comparison to what SE need to work on, but it will add a little more icing to the cake that's pending completion

Oh of course Burito ^^ I'm not asking for it or throwing down the flame baton at SE. I just thought it was a cool concept from WoW and would be a nice addition in the future to XIV.

Fira_Bug: I... I'd need to hunt those images of the UI with the explanation AGAIN because I don't remember where they are, but one of the dev threads actually has the mock UI of 2.0 with explanations of stuff.

You'll notice that there are icons with small gear icons in the action bar? One of the explanation images mentions that those gear items mean that that particular icon is a macro.

So yeah, your idea is totally going to make it in, was already in the plans even.

Edit: Oh, right, the mock UI ALSO has two action bars visible, not sure what is with that, though, they do not explain it.

My only though about this, in order for macros to work, and I'll go from my Cnj experience since it's my highest job, in order for a macro to work at least ON Cnj, you have to have those actions set to the AB somewhere. Example: when we HAD pro/Shell/SS I had a pre-battle buff like MOST Whm/Cnj/Priest <insert MMO class name here> my macro was set as such

    /aoe on
    /ac "Protect II" <t>
    /wait 4
    /ac "Stoneskin II" <t>
    /wait 7
    /ac "Shell II" <t>
    /wait 4
    /aoe off

Now here's why I mention this, in order for what your suggesting to occur as it is now in XIV, you would need to have Shell II Pro II and SS II somewhere on your action bar but then you wish to add that macro to the AB. That would be the loss of an additional AB slot; do you see what I mean? Macros imo have always been something you bind to a key in order to quickly use the action not having to find it on an AB and click it.

So I had those 3 spells available WAY down on my AB because I could bind that macro to a key and also run 3 separate macros for the spells as singles for as "needed" in battle. This keeps me from needing all bars available on screen and allows me the fastest access to my most important actions on AB (1).

Just some thoughts not sure if this is even useful. lol

Awesome, I didn't think people thought it was a feasible idea. Good to know that it's going in.
