We need better comunication with the Community team

There's probably not a lot that they can say. Reading between the lines, I get the impression that they want to speak more openly about what they know but they can't. A consequence, perhaps, of the developers being very tight about the flow of information. It's a bit annoying that I have to check Reddit to get up to date FF14 news. So many interviews just aren't published here at all.

I'm generally in favour of the official site being the favoured source of information for FF14 related discussion, though. I don't touch social media at all and shouldn't be expected to - especially given the sort of dubious scandals the likes of Facebook have been involved in lately.

But the problem is that we are not a single unity but a huge bunch of individuals who are from different countries thus also different traditions and upbringings. Thus for some a post might sound really negative or aggressive while for the person itself its just the way they react to things. Putting on tin foil hats and pointing out how more communication or even surveys could still be bad also does not help a discussion (just saying). The same with going into topics and point out how negative a community is. If this has nothing about the topic itself (like a thread about the community) this only turns it into a off topic discussion or starts a flame war. I mean if I go into a topic where someone complains (with or without great feedback) about something and I just write how horrible this community is and that they will be never fine with that, I am not helping the topic at all. It does not give a point on how I truly see it, it can start arguments that are unnessary and it paints a whole community with too big of a brush. Maybe that person never complained before and suddenly is put with the part of the community that constantly complain for the sake of it. That is far from fair but is also done. We have the forum mods that should be enough to police this place and they do delete posts or topics if they are too bad. And if someone is truly just trolling or using personal insults we can point this out to the mods too. Other than that its not our job to police the place and it should not be that way. Because who decides what is still fine and what not?

I have been part of this forum for some time and honestly in my opinion the ones that often dont help a topic are those that attack the person behind a post or that cant accept negative feedback. I have seen enough great threads that had good feedback but you had a few individuals that took it way off topic by putting down the feedback as nothing but hate and rage. Yes there are posts that are nothing but hate with no feedback but there are also more than enough posts that started as a rage thread and turned into a interesting discussion with good points. And if someone says they hate x then this might not be the most valuable answer ever but its still an answer. SE might not get feedback on how to make it better but if for example you have someone posting that they hate something and get a huge amount of likes..they still know that there is maybe something wrong with it.

About this topic having speculations and stuff: If you want to post an argument you often need examples. Thus people are using old situations where the communication was bad as examples and I am not really sure how this takes a way from the topic itself. Honestly the ones that are off topic at least in this thread are the ones that took one example (Eureka) and tried to spin it into another such thread. Otherwise it did stay on topic enough and did show how SE kinda lacks in that part.

The upbringing works for me too if that's how you say that feedbacks are given it is my way to react to certain things.
I've never said that having more informations are bad, I've said that the feeling of not beign listened won't really end with them, I've seen ppl saying that SE manipulated FFXV surveys to their liking or even the gear contests which is what I'd like to avoid.

What I want to get is that we should be clear on what we want and not beign vague, that's why I made a list about what should happen and I'll write this again:

-More informations/Translations about interwiews and possibly posted on the official forum
-A member of the dev team or who for them should do what Yoshi-P Does on New year's eve
-A better communication between the ENG community team and the main dev team

Feel free to criticise this points I migth have forgotten something, If ppl really wants surveys too, sure why not? As I said my waryness will stand but if ppl wants them and as you have shown to know the possible outcomes of them I'm ok eitherway.

I completely agree with your list Remedi. Those points would be a very good start. On top of that some more points:

- Ingame and forum surveys about new content.
- Have mods come into topics that are long and/or have lots of likes and discussions going on and at least give us a hint that they read them and will give the feedback to the devs. This way it feels at least like we are heard even if nothing comes from it.

Those are imo quite a few good steps in the right direction.

Yeah, I think this would be great. Even on the WoW forums the forum blues (basically what a forum mod here is) pop in every so often even if it's just to interact with the players, even the threads made for fun. And it happens way more than like, once a year. When things are more "serious" though they either run and hide till things blow over or try and quell the unrest with a response. My point is a little interaction goes a long way. I'd love to see the mods and maybe a dev or 2 pop in every once in awhile, no matter what thread it is just to show that they are willing to engage with the player base a bit.

I'm def not happy that they are removing the translations of the Live letters from here onwards.
I know that they said they want to post a digest earlier but frankly it's not an ideal situation.
They should work towards making the Live letters understandable to non japanese players too, since imho japanese players can actually watch a eng live letter and understand it, while we are kinda shafted till a translations is done.
I'm not going to save that I'm not grateful for the unofficial translations because they are doing one hell of a work, but I think that non JPN having an official live translation of a Live letter would only be a fair treatment.

YES! YES! I even forgot about them advertising LL in-game. They really ought to step up on this.

Absolutely this. The Live Letters are so important to us. Theye're one of the few reliable ways we can get some insight on what's planned and how SE feels about the state of the game. And they just leave it up to the fans to translate them? That's absurd!

I should not have to go to a 3rd party site to get official news. If the company officially supports a language, they should communicate important news like Live Letters and YoshiP's "walks" in it.

No... it's just that they tell you to tune into the live letter and tell you when and where, then at the very bottom, say that the audio will only be in Japanese.

I mean, translation is not an easy job to be sure, but many people feel it shouldn't fall to the community of players to translate live letters,interviews and the like.
