I totally understand what you are saying there, but the lag is MUCH more for EU/NA players, that's what I'm saying. I do understand why lag appears, and that the server needs to update (I'm computer engineer myself), but since the servers are placed in Japan, they have WAY less lag.
You should place a Japanese player screen, mining, next to a EU/NA player mining on the same pc specifications. You will see how much faster a Japanse player can mine compared to us, just because the servers are placed in Japan. They will fix that by spreading the servers more over the world in 2.0, but making more stuff client-based before 2.0 would fix A TON of stuff. Like, why the hell would the server needs to know when exactly I'm going to strike/finished. Then you have a delay of like 2-4 second after you acquired the item because of the server lag.
A Japanese player can instantly hit 'Begin' again after acquiring that item. They don't have that delay because they are closer to the servers.
FFXIV just has way too much server-based actions, which gives the game huge delays. It makes the game more safe to bots, I can understand that, but it's VERY annoying to fair players..
There are idd movement & other delays on other MMOs too, but at least the servers are more spread there, which minimize the delay. When they aren't able to spread the servers before 2.0, I would love to see some more client-side actions to speed things up for EU/NA players. When a Japanese player is able to complete 2 mines of 8 hits each, while EU/NA players are only able to 1 mine of 8 hits (sometimes i succeed to do 2 on the next mine, then the Japanese player is done by then), that just doesn't sound fair to me. I need to spend A LOT of time for this golden tool too, but it seems like Japanese players are just able to get it twice as fast as us..
Also when you compare Japanese players crafting to us, it's insane. They can even press 'Standard synthesis' before the full animation of hitting that shiny node is over. You should try that when you are EU or NA O.o
