5.0 is here and still nothing. How do you feel?I really wish for the god sake that we can see an improvement in 5.0.
It's time for a revamp on this game, and I'm serious about it.
SE pockets are full with our money and they even don't care in give us what we asking for.
* More faces options.
* Let us use more than one face paint, GOD ....
* Tattoos. In what ever we wanna put them. I mean body and also our face.
* Body shapes. A preset one, I can get that maybe it's difficult to have this in a slide, I just want presets.
* Except for the body ... Can we get slides for all the others options? Please. There's other games that have this. PS4 is not an excuse. WHY this one do not have it? Rebuild the game if it's necessary, I do not care. I gave my money almost 2 years. And many people are in my situation or even worse. So, do it.
I will wait till one day 5.0 arrives ...
I find it a bit vexing that the root cause of much of the game's issues such as the low number of character creation options is the weak servers that can't remain stable even in zones meant for large-scale player activity like Eureka, yet SE seems unwilling to budget the resources for a major upgrade.
I'd think they'd eventually be forced into it as the game continues to expand by adding more zones that place further strain on them, but who knows when that will be.
As far as the creator goes, I'm satisfied with how I look, but having an extra touch of uniqueness like the aforementioned horn highlights would be nice.

what the devs have said:
more options: no
more varity in the current options: possible
yeah, i think y'all have a point. i was also thinking about WoW's Cataclysm expansion, too. i'm 100% in favor of an entire expansion just to improve upon the base/vanilla game ;; i can really appreciate how blizzard isn't afraid of going back and changing things, even if they said they wouldn't or it wasn't likely to happen in the past. i hope, if it happens, it happens sooner rather than later... square plsI think you hit the nail on the head there. Given what happened with 1.0 I'd wager that they were faced with the options of either completely rewrite the game from scrap, or rebuild from the original code. More than likely, given time and budget constraints, they picked the latter option, and now they're in a place where that's coming back to bite them on the ass.
I suspect, only suspect mind, that it would take something equivalent to WoWs Cataclysm to fix it. Blizzard jumped on the chance of that expansion to fill in code so the core zones were capable of flight and a lot of other things like that. That is probably what Square would have to do in order to allow this game to shine to its potential.
So until they get the chance to do that, if they ever do, I agree we're not likely to see changes. But damn I would like them. I love my kitty, but I'd love her more if I could more properly display she's not a pampered house cat.
Here's the main problem SE has: Server Stability
More options and variance = more data to transfer
More data to transfer = higher chances of stuff being lost
Solution = Upgrade servers
New Problem = Not Enough Funding
Not Enough Funding = Nothing Changes
Nothing Changes = Slow Decline
Except for the fact that they do have the funding for a revamp from character subscriptions alone(just look at all the worlds that are locked because of having too many active players in them), they simply care more about hoarding the money than even fixing the bugs(or even worse, spending the money to add unrealistic boob jiggle instead). They could fix things if they wanted to. But they don't want/care to because they know players will keep playing anyway. I am one of these players. I may hate the demureness of the female Au'ra, but I'm still going to play as one because I would rather play a dragon that is demure than not play a dragon at all.Here's the main problem SE has: Server Stability

Am I a boy? Am I a girl? Who knows! But I enjoy video games and that's all anyone should care about!
I always wondered why my Au Ra can't have scars compared to the other races! When I saw Mide's facial scar in Alexander, I was like "Oh come on!" Thinking back I don't think Lalafell have scars either! Gimme those SE!
They really need to revisit and update the entire character customization. Look at other companies that have been around for a long time and have remained relevant. What have those companies done? Well.. lets take a look at League of Legends, for example. They are constantly updating their content. They aren't afraid to overhaul graphics or abilities and change things up. World of Warcraft? They certainly have changed graphics and given things some nice face lifts. FFXIV needs to do the same. They have a bigger budget and know the game's success now, so it's time to revisit these things and give us more options.
I want my character to NOT look like EVERY OTHER character in the game. We need more face options more than anything else but I'd also appreciate more options for body types. I don't really care if we get a butt slider or not (although it would be nice to have a SLIGHTLY bigger booty) but I'd really love wider hips. I think the Aura look great because they have wider hips and I think that's why they appeal to a lot of people. But sadly they aren't for me because I'm not a fan of the faces available...
We need to be able to choose 2 different face paints AT LEAST. I hate that I can't choose eyeshadow AND freckles. Or dirt on my face and blush. Or whatever. It's dumb. Horns need to be a separate option from head types for Aura, just like ears on lalafell/elezen. Miqote need an OPTION to have black tips (or any color tips!) on their ears (featured on a COUPLE miqote exclusive male hairs) - it shouldn't be hair locked.
They should also consider adding more idle standing poses and having the avatar card reflect the pose they have selected (or choose a random one if they cycle) when examining others. The default standing poses are soooo ugly imo that I hate looking at my avatar card and seeing it and then seeing how cutely an aura stands in comparison on their cards. </3
Anyway, YES it will take a lot of time. But dammit. I have been playing since closed beta. I have additional retainers that I pay for monthly. I have bought so much shit off the mogstation. I have even bought stuff for friends off it, including $18 outfits. I bought BOTH the PC AND PS3 collectors editions of the game. I have bought every expansion as it came out at full price. I think I have the right to ask SE to spend some time and money improving the game. Dedicate a team to it. Will it take a long time? Yeah, probably. But if you want the game to last a long time, you need to update it and keep it fresh and up to the current standards. I never played XI but if I'm not mistaken, they've never upgraded the graphics for it? That's honestly shocking and probably a huge part of why it has such a low player base currently.
And even though this is a bit off topic, can we discuss the ability bloat this game suffers from??? Don't be afraid to cut out more abilities and please stop adding them. Maybe some people like that but honestly I don't want more than 20 or so abilities. Jeez.
/end rant.
Sorry.

「Life is such a fragile thing…」
Some options would be cool and all but I'd be happy if they just addressed the clipping issues many options have. The longer hairstyles is a prime example of this. Some tail issues as well I think is another one (never been a cat myself) and hats and capes and stuff. Where some bows and staves for clip head gear.
Just fixing that would open up a lot more options for customisation that many players currently avoid solely because of the clipping
