Square i love you, but.. consolidation would be nice.

So i love your crafting system, i do.. but when it comes to skills, i dont even have any macros set up yet, dont have the specialization skills on my bar yet, and THIS is what i have to show.

Please square, while you do a great job at consolidating combat class skills.. show us crafters a little love there!

Well thanks to macros you don't need to keep certain things on your hotbar. Unlike battle, crafting benefits from macros.

You don't actually need standard synthesis or careful synthesis 1 on your bar once you learn careful synthesis 2, nor do you need standard synthesis when you learn careful synthesis 3, and rumination you never use once you have a finisher to use(in your case byregots brow until you learn byregots blessing) so that's 4 slots you can remove.

I'm endgame crafting pretty much any craft and have everything on 2 hotbars. Very occasionally I'll switch an ability or two, but I haven't needed to in weeks. There are a large number of abilities I just don't need anymore.

Combat classes on the otherhand, you could only dream of squeezing everything a Ninja uses on 2 hotbars.

My crafting hotbar is literally just a bunch of macros... Its extremely sad. Things do need to be worked on in crafting. But I don't think development really knows what they have time to revamp vs not.

My hot bar changed a bunch of times in the past, but the first 7 buttons (controlled by the number keys 1-7) only changed a tad bit since ARR, and I highly recommend this.
    1: Careful Syn II
2: Careful Syn III (used to be Standard Touch back in ARR and HW)
    3: Advanced Touch
    4: Innovation
    5: Steady Hand
    6: Great Strides
    7: Byregot's Brow

And I have the 2nd hotbar placed above this hotbar, with:
    Ctrl 1: Comfort Zone
    Ctrl 2: Inner Quiet

The reason for this arrangement is that I can execute the following combo with ease with just my left hand:

    Ctrl 1: Comfort Zone
    Ctrl 2: Inner Quiet

    6: Great Strides
    5: Steady Hand
    4: Innovation
    3: Advanced Touch
    6: Great Strides
    3: Advanced Touch

    6: Great Strides
    5: Steady Hand
    4: Innovation
    3: Advanced Touch
    6: Great Strides
    7: Byregot's Blessing

1: Careful Syn II or 2: Careful Syn III
1: Careful Syn II or 2: Careful Syn III
1: Careful Syn II or 2: Careful Syn III

This is the rotation I use for ALL recipes below level 66 (including ALL Heavensward Star Recipes). I cut short the rotation as I see fit. It's one of the most-used rotation for me for lower level stuff.

I'm not sure how skill trimming would work for crafters to begin with. Like, where would you even begin? Transform older skills into higher level ones? I don't want them to take away low level skills, getting quality at the lower levels is hard enough without all the tools available.

Something you may think of as pointless may be something others use a lot. I personally have never used Whistle While You Work as I like to keep my crafts simple. My friend actually uses innovative touch, despite only being 40% chance (and he doesn't have steady hand II, the madman) and another friend used Standard Synthesis all the way to 70 despite having a 60 weaver simply because that's how they crafted.

Personally I'd love to see even more skills to differentiate the crafters as currently you could combine all of them into one class and nothing much of value (other than the crafting quests and Glam Life) would be lost.

They can't even add traits to upgrade older versions into high-er leveled versions since they all see use.

Like a lot of the people above, the only times I am not using macros is when I am in a hurry (I use 3 and 4 second waits instead of 2 and 3, due to server hiccups being a thing), but otherwise it's all macros. Then again, I use a controller, so I have enough space for the most often-used abilities on my bars for manual crafting.
