Question about the cross skills for crafters

Hi everyone, I'm new in the crafting jobs and I would like to know something about the cross skills. I know than it's better to level up all jobs to lvl50 in order to have the best cross skills but is that really difficult at lvl70 without them?

Depends on what you are crafting. If you are crafting NQ glamour items and furniture you can live without the items. If you are crafting level 70 0 or 1 star food you can probably live without a number of the skills (but you'll have to create your own rotation).

If you try to create 2 star or higher items you'll run into unpleasant problems. The level 50 cross class skills are entirely too required for crafting. SE really needs to fix the crafting cross class system, its a mess.

I used my own stats and I am pretty sure I avoided any cross class skills. (please correct me if I made an error that way).
While the HQ bar is only 1/2 on the macro, that means with HQ materials it can be done with reasonable reliability.

    Alternative rotation
Higher HQ potential with a higher RNG factor by switching out Hasty Touch II with Hasty Touch.

Well the goal for me is being totally independant. Being capable of doing my own build like the 350 ones, my own food, my own potions, my own materia. All those kind of things.

If your goal is to be independent then level them all. Use leves to get to 50 and I targeted repeatable leves personally. Then after 50 if you still have leves do them but otherwise start doing collectibles. The only difference with Collectibles and Leves is you have more forgiveness on a collectible. Of course you would like max collectibility but the minimum rating is often around 50-75% of the rating bar. You should also be able to do the weekly turn-ins starting at 50. Personally I would take cooking to 70 first so you can also start farming yellow scrips and it is the most independent crafter when it comes to cross materials.

Also if you don't have gathering classes then you should do that too.

Why would you use Brow before Miracle? Wouldn't it be better to use Miracle first, and then Brow?
As for cross class skills, SH II is actually a level 37 cross class skill. But let's just keep it in the rotation for now

Below is my attempt... It uses 21 less CP, but gives a lot more quality. It does have 4x Rapid Syn II though:

If we assume one of the Rapid Syn II to fail, and an extra Rapid Syn II is to replace the Patient Touch, then the rotation becomes below:

Yes, you are absolutely correct. I rushed too much when building it out. Once fixed, the quality increased by nearly 2000 to numbers very close to your Rapid Synth II all hit values.

It and Hasty Touch are Culinarian skills. So, they were correct for the recipe of choice. They would have be replaced by SH1 and HT2 for any other class but that specialist would have different native skills to leverage.

OP, basically what we are showing is that as you increase your use of RNG skills you can increase your potential HQ %. These have to hit or you will end up with very low HQ %. This is the limitation of single class crafter.

As for your statement of being self sufficient, that means you will want to level up all crafters and gatherers. This gives full access to all cross class abilities. Once you have those, you will be able to use the rotations posted all over these forums which can nearly 100% HQ with NQ materials any craft in this game.

If the goal is independence, then you need to level everything period. All crafters, all gatherers, and at least one combat class. Lets you make your own subcombines. So if you want to make a suit of armor and no one is selling the type of leather used in the recipe(or no one is selling for a reasonable price anyway) you can: kill the animal for the skin, mine up the reagents to cure it, and process that leather yourself.

And for leveling up crafting classes dont forget your grand company turn ins, your weekly custom deliveries, and your beast tribes(ixali for 1-50, moogle for 50-60, ??? for 60-70 probly next patch). Mix those in with leves and collectables plus some good old fashioned crafting, and youll get them all done faster then you might think.

Ohh, right! If one is making Pork Kakuni, one is of course a level 70 CUL, so one has access to SH II, Hasty and even Muscle Memory! DUH, Caimie! *facepalm* Let's try this again!

Here, this rotation has a ton of RNG skills involved, but it can reach 97% HQ rate from zero quality (sooo much power)! I cheated a bit by adding 4 more CP into the stats though :P

    Exactly!

We also haven't used the Whistle While You Work system yet. If we use that system, it introduces even more RNG, but potentially gaining even more power!
