I balk of time likely went towards stability. Bear in mind, Eureka requires multiple instances which must assume 144 active players at all given times. That is no small feat nor can they merely copy/paste the code once one instance has been thoroughly tested as they now have to test multiple ones on the servers themselves. Many Notorious Monsters also appear wholly unique in design. They have said previously new gear models takes upwards of six months. So I imagine monster design falls in that category somewhere. Someone mentioned earlier Shirogane may have played a whole it Eureka being delayed... which makes sense. It's very unlikely they intended to add six additional Wards and overhaul how house purchasing works so quickly. The enormous backlash forced their hand.
This all being said, I am not defending the ultimately shallow beginnings of Eureka. They should be well accustomed to their limitations and not release content half-baked unless they intent to be candid about it.
I'm saying others want content handed to them, not implying you are. Never said YOU are saying that. You pretty much said it yourself, doing shinryu is fun, it's fun for me too. Paying attention to the boss and it's mechanic is fun, while dishing out great dps on all tank, healer and dps classes. What the relic is doing is a catch up and lets players with less time to learn fights or aren't skilled enough to do so, maybe no friends/fc/ls to do it with but can get some gear thats lower than the best gear. It's fair game, because you don't really need good gear when you don't even do higher end game content. I don't mind the grind, like you said, you been grinding a lot of the things, even if they were pretty bad grinds, like the fates you did? I never even got my mounts, because it's something I didn't want to. Relic always been outdated, no matter what. People have to understand that. I think it's pretty dumb to put the ilvl on the weapons as ilvl 355, it could been 360, which is better. .
Also I like your ideas, I mean giving us daily quest inside there would be dope, maybe rare items drops of regular mobs that your group first claimed and pop a NM by using the item? Idk, something like that be cool too I think.
I suspect the reason they didn't is so the next 24-man gear isn't immediately rendered obsolete. After all, what motivation will people have to spam it if they can work on multiple relics for better gear?
I seriously doubt this is the case anymore. This statement came from an interview with Yoshi-P back when FFXIV was still in its 1.x stage. SE was working with an atrocious set of development tools, and models that were overly-complex for the time. In fact, part of the reason they scaled down the graphics quality in 2.0+ so badly was because of the lengthy development time for models of various sorts.
From my perspective, I just wish SE would say something. The deafening silence from the development team is a terrible look, and is just causing the Eureka-related unhappiness to fester. We shouldn't be having to guess as to why Eureka took so long to develop; we shouldn't be having to guess as to why on earth SE thought 'third time's the charm' for Diadem-style content. This is something they should be explaining to us, and generating a true dialogue about with the community. As I said in my previous post, we're a very understanding bunch; but nobody is going to stick around forever if they feel their opinion isn't even being heard.
While I'm waiting for a lengthy write up by Yoshi-P, at this point I don't care as much on what they will say to quell the rage and explain why they thought this level of content was acceptable. I only care that they come out with why Eureka (and to en extent Diadem and a lot of the rest of the game) is in such a shallow unimaginative state, and most importantly what they plan to do moving forward. From my perspective, I just wish SE would say something. We're 2 expansions in and nothing new or substantial has been released outside PoTD, which I consider the bare minimum of what something new should be. But everything else is the same formula ad nauseum. Any attempt at "new and innovative" content is anything but new and innovative. Then we get things like LoV which are baffling and nothing anyone asked for, and needlessly complicated (seriously, make it a spawn minions and tower defense game and it'd be simple, easy, fun, and most of all not a big waste of dev time). Meanwhile it feels like so much dev time is wasted trying to fix the mistakes of ages past. Housing? Patch after patch to deal with it being poorly implemented in the first place. Diadem 2.0? A failure and another waste of time to try and fix something they could have just gotten right in the first place.
I agree, but they need to stem the bleeding right now. More than anything, they need to be initiating dialogue with the community. It's quite clear that the development team does not have a proper understanding of what new and innovative content looks like. The community has been clamoring for years for this type of content, and yet it's nowhere to be seen. They need to start talking to us and asking our opinions and then - the important part - they need to listen. Only time will tell if they can pull this off. I'm not terribly optimistic at this point, but who knows? While I'm waiting for a lengthy write up by Yoshi-P, at this point I don't care as much on what they will say to quell the rage and explain why they thought this level of content was acceptable. The thing about that is, it's armor only in the 24-man. So that doesn't excuse why the weapon is already obsolete. If you're talking about dips, that's also never been an issue before. The relics in 2.0 and 3.0 were the level equivalent of unupgraded tome gear in previous patches, not reaching the same strength as upgraded until the same point as .x5 part of the following patch.
Yeah exactly, if these are real issues, like the issues making the element interface, seeing that take too much work around programing, they should of tossed it. As players we do not see the work they have to do to get something simple done, all we can say "We waited 17 months for something you can put anywhere?? what gives?"I balk of time likely went towards stability. The problem with that thinking, since we know it is going to be 360 because that is what they always do, the weapon and armor could also be 360. It still has a reason to be ran because its not a bleedin grind to simply get one drop, and that limit is once a week. The released Eureka out of date, under crafted, under trail , under limited tome behind a huge grind. As is there is no reason to do this unless you really like something, but that something is not worth my time, to a few people it is, but I would never understand it.
