If you thought enough players were going to find this system overly complicated and tedious, to the point that you allowed their in-game character to express as much...Why did you include it in the game in the first place?

Because they don't comprehend that lampshading or parodying (whichever applies better) something doesn't excuse the fact that the game itself just did or will immediately do something stupid.

This isn't the first time they've done this - remember back to the ARR MSQ surrounding Titan and the banquet - and I would be shocked if it's the last.
