    Implementation proposal of "freelance" job

Because I am a Japanese player, I am not very good at English. Please forgive me.
I think that reply is not enough either.

At the Japanese forum, there was a proposal that "I want you to imple- ment a job called" Sppin "(freelance in English) that can be active in multi, which is not a tank, healer, or DPS.
The reaction of Japanese players was not good. (It seems that it desires to ignore the system of ff 14 in various ways)

How do you think about overseas and English-speaking players?

I am very sorry、I understand the Onion Knight, but I do not understand the meaning of "Jack of all trade".

Please think that it is "onion night" in the image.

If they ever do away with combat classes completely and leave us with only jobs we will likely get a freelancer job to start as. It could sub for the classes and do the class quests in their stead.

We've had similar topics about Red Mage (before Stormblood) and Blue Mage.

    Generally it's
    - too powerful
    - too weak
    - too disruptive to the current system

Most people don't seem to want a party consisting of different versions of the same job. I don't either.

They have specifically discussed this before, their response was "No".

I believe they're talking something similar to the Final Fantasy V "Freelancer". Where you don't have a class/job you're just you but you have access to any number of skills you have unlocked/levelled up. They would have to entirely rework the balance of the game in order to implement something like that because everything is based around the holy trinity of tank/healer/dps.

"Jack of all trades" simply means someone who can do a little bit of everything, but isn't a master of anything. Think of it like desynthesis - if you want to have points in all classes each will only have 130, none will have 350. You cannot max any of them this way.

The class you describe could be very interesting in the right kind of game. Unfortunately, in my experience, games like this always come down to number crunching, and even if you have a lot of different ways that you can play a class, the public mindset will be "these are the best ways to do the thing", which will in turn become the only accepted way to do things. Anyone not following these mindsets will have to find their own friend groups, as they won't be welcome in random groups. We already see this to an extent.

I think it could be a very fun concept, but I don't think it would work in FFXIV.

    Thank you for explaining.

Reading comments seems to resist resistance to implementation suggestions. I also have resistance, but if you incorporate it into the current system, it is a level you must rework from scratch.

problem with freelancer is that it always starts out terribly weak to the point it's barely usable and then once you master the proper set of jobs or even all jobs it becomes so overpowering there really is no point to use anything else ever.

It's not competitive, it's either not good enough or way too good

Red Mage is kind of an example of how that sort of character fails a bit. Right now red mage is amazing in all the more casual content but in high end stuff it falls behind because a chunk of it's utility is cross classed into healing and mobility instead of damage augmentation skills
so now it's stuck in the too weak or too strong syndrome. Its cool healing aspect means it will be less damage output making it less desirable than black mage for damage or they buff the damage output and now you have a black mage that can also heal and res eclipsing the current black mages role

Also, with all the limitations ffxiv has inherited from 1.x classes need to neatly fit into a role because there is no current flexibility in the system for "I can do two different roles on this one job"
