Yeah I was expecting something that would have me spending a lot of time in there working towards it on my own at my own pace. Or with a light party. I was not expecting full parties to be mandatory or the insanity that's taken place. I can't say I'm overly impressed with the ilvl of the rewards either. Granted, you can get 5 guaranteed materia slots from it, which makes using those lvl 6 materia a lot easier, but god at least bump up the ilvl to 360 if not 370. For the amount of time it looks like we have to invest, we should be getting something a hell of a lot closer to raiding gear than this.

At the very least it needs a party matching system like POTD.

Shouting "LFG Level X" is faster than any party matching system would ever be, also it's assuming you're not level 1, and it's plenty fast to get away from level one.
Also if there is a fate train active in the instance you are in (and it usually is), you'll get the location of the next fate broadcast on /shout about every minute, just make your way (carefully) to that location and (assuming it's even remotely within your level range) attack it and reap the easy rewards.

The opposite of raider is not casual. The opposite of raider is non-raider.

The opposite of casual is hardcore. One need not be raiding to be hardcore. Of course, there are people who fall between hardcore and casual.

Relics have always been for everyone. Raiders did them because the first levels required some raiding (no, the first three Primals HM were not casual content upon release) and they did not see much reason to stop once they started on it, and then they got rewarded by having customizable stats. As those raids became easier, and more people could do them, more and more non-raiders started doing them too. In HW, they were not locked behind current raid content at all.

I submit to you, that regardless of whether they raid, anyone who’s got a full set of the Eureka gear, maybe or maybe not including the i355 weapon, is not merely a casual player.

The way I look at relics is, it's a fancy thingy you get for investing time instead of skill (yes, I know, hardmode etc. but the biggest factor in relic gear in majority of the steps is time time time.)
