It's like Tridus said, people are sleeping (log out) on the street, because they can't afford a house/apartment even though they make Eorzea a safe place. I had to sleep on the floor after purchasing my first apartment, because I was so broke that I couldn't afford the bed. I had to do overtime in a dungeon (no quest, no payment) to loot the gil, because I couldn't fell asleep on the cold floor.

Actually, radio technology does exist in Hydaelyn - it's what linkpearls really are, they're basically mobile phones in the shape of a pearl (Cid specifically stated during ARR's main scenario that they use electromagnetic waves, i.e, radio, before switching to the 'layman's terms' speak when he notices the player character's eyes glazing over and explains it as "thunder-aligned aetheric energy"). Hence the phone ringtone-like chirp that proceeds a linkpearl call in cutscenes.

As for the OP's complaint, well, the moment you walked into the Adventurer's Guild and signed on as an adventurer right at the start of the game the guild's proprietor told you outright then and there that being an adventurer was not an instant constant path to glory, riches and admiration, it usually just meant doing meaningless busywork for little reward. And just because you're now ordained as the Warrior of Light, you are still just an adventurer legally like all the rest.

Really, I think maybe your character should consider another career path if this is too much for them.

I never asked for glory, riches or admiration. We are talking here about beeing able to live properly. Since we also have to pay for repair of our armour it's tough saving up money. Sometimes my character enters dungeons with an empty stomach. That's just sad!

The barbershop doesn't hire atm. Seems like that one guy can cope with all customers.
