Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it.

Hardly anyone in my FC or my friends list was online so I decided to venture into Eureka solo. After entering and going through the intro cutscenes and stuff, I went outside, killed 2 monsters that were my level and was already drained, so I left. Went back a couple minutes later and joined a party. Absolutely, dreadfully, boring. Left that group and left the instance again. And then I went and did the Hildebrand quests. lol Tried to do 2 different NM's and ended up dying during both. Was irriated and completely over it immediately.
Overall, it's a very dull and mind-numbing experience and completely not meant for solo progression, which sucks because people will drop it after a week and finding a party will be hard.
Just recently, I had some friends finally get online and we made a party and started doing some grinding. It's a bit more bearable with friends, but not by much. We literally just pulled a bunch of mobs and aoe'd them down. Went ok. Got some NM's which was cool even though they're a cluster fuck even when you have other effects turned off. And it's not fun to be trying to kill the NM and getting killed by trash nearby that happens to aggro you for whatever reason.
I know they're going to make changes to it. But as it stands right now, Eureka is a dull and borderline waste of time. There's no structure. And the fact that you have to grind to get to the grind. It makes no sense. It has potential, definitely. And the map is great. But my first impression is, it's awful and boring.
Super boring, wish there was more ways to gain exp than mobs/fate. Will just get the weapon, armor does not seem worth the grind.
Changes would be welcome sooner rather than later. I have a feeling that they've got a bit of a...situation on their hands right now. After Diadem 1 and 2.0, I think people expected better of them. I'm currently in the mindset of "I hate Eureka, but I also kinda like it"...mostly because it brings me back to my leveling days in XI. Beyond that I just...yeah, there really isn't any words I could say that could properly convey my personal disappointment. I knew there was a chance that this would be ugly, but I still had hope. Hope is now gone.I know they're going to make changes to it. But as it stands right now, Eureka is a dull and borderline waste of time. There's no structure. What helps, however, is that the JP community is in the same boat. You can tell something's wrong whenever even they're bashing Eureka. There's always a bit more of a chance that they will be listened to more than NA or EU.
I'm pretty sure that's the way to do this shit. The grindy part can be boring as hell, but I do think that there is at least some stuff that is still hidden. When all the FATEs will be "controlled" and known, the xp and crystals will rain ;DThe NM are fates that are triggered, not timed. Once people figure out the spawn conditions (and how many there are), people will work towards spawning them more often for big exp leveling boosts, Anemos Crystals (which you can save for last step, but if we get to a point where we're constantly spawning NMs the exchange for Proteans might be appealing), and lockboxes.
It's possible THAT is what we're really supposed to do in Eureka and we just need time to figure it all out.
However, one thing that surprised me a bit with the content is that there is a lot more interaction between the players in the chat. People shouting for help/group and discussing with the group you joined with total stranger was really funny. I just hope that something good will be made with this area. Maybe this step is just the leveling boring part, and next step will be more interesting, with interesting mechanics/boss.
So I totally lost to the allure of the awards. I'm weak, and they have a moogle orchestrion and carbuncle slippers. fml.
I have shifted my attitude regarding Eureka and now find it not as bad for how I do it. Hunting is one of the things I enjoy more in the game so the prospect of spawning and fighting the NM is something I'm more than used to. That's also not bad experience and spoils ratio even if I only get in a party for the NM. Furthermore, it gives me one of those short term goals while leveling - spawn the thing.
Awards have been kind of decent so far. Got both the Sharlayan housing items that are already in my house and, er, two of the pants. My biggest gripe is there's nothing to do with duplicate glamours.
If I had to guess Yoshi-P is really proud of his new idea and when it didn't revolutionize the game like he thought it would (and still didn't even with a redesign) he took it really badly and I'm guessing his next step, assuming he doesn't do the smart thing and abandon this type of content, is blame the player base for it. We'll get see first hand if he has a fragile ego.
Another thing to mention is it's freakin' murder on PC players hands if they don't use a controller (and even then it will murder controller players' hands eventually). Mashing your rotation out for 2 hours is insane.
I havn't even done Eureka yet, no rush imo.
But why is there so many people being so salty about it?
What is so bad?
Are people complaining about relic is a grind (really?) ?
It's not the grind, it's the quality of the grind. Your only two options to get what you need (exp and crystals) is to sit in one spot and kill the same mobs for hours on end, or kill Notorious Monsters that only seem to spawn every hour.
