Weapon of Choice for future Tanks?

I'd like a spear and shield setup.

Just dump all the stats onto the PLD/new tank weapons and turn shield into essentially a vanity slot (same for RDM sword/focus and NIN dagger/off-hand dagger as well please.)

I don't get This, we already have a spear wielder. Dragoon is the only spear wielding job in all of final fantasy. (besides Uhlan in XII which is just dragoon without jump)

And thematically, what would it be?
An ancient Roman gladiator... we already have a gladiator class...

Mutliple jobs already use the same type of weapon in vastly different ways.

We have one caster DPS and one healer using basically identical books.
We have 2 tanks, 1 melee and 1 caster using different types of swords.
But the idea of a melee DPS using a two handed spear and a tank using a smaller spear plus shield just baffles you...

1. They're both Arcanist, that's why.
2. There have always been multiple jobs in the ff universe that use different types of swords, even the first game had warrior and red mage. The spear on the other hand is iconic of a dragoon and nothing else.
3. You can't just pick a weapon a random. What would the theme be? What is it based on? What would the lore be?

Spear and shield says to me, either Roman gladiator or centurion. But we already have the gladiator class.

Templar perhaps? But again, too similar to Paladin.

I could maybe see a tank class using a Naginata. A sort if spear, or at least a polearm.
A Japanese or Chinese themed tank.

There already are several naginatas in game, all of them being DRG weapon...

Club, morgenstern or warhammers/a two handed warhammer are what I think we should get, both mechanically (a blunt job to go with MNKs) and from a lore point of view, there are many things you can creathz with those.
