Gau was something entirely new that should be brought back. He was like a Beast Master without the Master... lol
And no one gave a crap about Strago.....

In FFVII all you had was enemy skill materia... Beta was good if you got it really early from the Midgar Zolom....
Once again... Blue Mage equals FF fail

Yeah XI's blue mage was the best in terms of story and execution (though most people strayed from non completely damaging spells when they had the chance to.) Blue Mage was never really that bad as they learned some of the good spells that BLM/RDM/WHM never learned (epecially hybrid spells.)

Khimari was still a Dragoon above all to be honest, the blue mage nature was simply because he needed SOMETHING for his overdrive lol.

    I don't even know what you're saying.
    Big Guard.
    Shockwave Pulsar

Like most FF games before 10, exploitation was damn easy. Few skills here and there and you would auto-win errything.

I liked the WoW pvp games. Capture the flag / control areas / conquer opponents base. It is a great way to create actual casual content and strengthen community bonds when you this in big raids. Not that I'm for more casual content over other content, it's just casual content that I actually like >.>

Hmmm given the amount of individual FFXI posts in this one thread ive deduced that your a FFXI hater....

i wanted to smash every BRDs face in every time i heard that damned flute.
COP had some pretty cool battles, i enjoyed every FFXI story line but i hated all of the mini expansion stories (like the mog one and so on)
Sky was a lame grind, well most of FFXI was nothing but a stand still grind which i dont even agree with other people having the right to enjoy. i feel its just so bad that i think it should be illegal for anyone to enjoy.
Sea was at least colorful but still a boring grind.
one thing i felt FFXI did wrong was rely on auto attack for damage. i believe auto attack should mostly be for looks that cannot produce damage worth waiting for. on top of that, THFs auto attack is what i felt should have been the standard speed for all auto attacks.

what i felt other games did right was the base concept of dungeon finder. i dont believe it should teleport you from wherever you are to the dungeon but i do believe in being able to play with people cross server to minimize the wait time. i feel it should prioritize people looking on your own server but then group you up with people on others if none on yours could be found. i believe these dungeons should be located relatively close to aetharite.

another thing i feel other MMOs did better than any FF game are the twitch mechanics. im sorry but i just feel twitch mechanics are just superior.

i also enjoy being able to cast magic that travels from point A to point B... not just appearing in front of the targets face out of the blue WITH EVERY SINGLE SPELL. i enjoy chain lightning spells, fireballs, chain healing spells, and i really really miss absorb spells.

I also enjoy open world zones. most MMOs do not have any zone lines at all, anywhere. FFXIV currently has old fashioned zone lines and will have even more even though it was advertised originally as being open world "like other MMOs"... quoted from Tanaka at release even though the game does have lots of zone lines.

another thing i like about MMOs are the tiered gear. you can have the same gear but with better and better stats even at the same level and still be able to augment it.

another thing i like about other MMOs are the very significant changes to your performance based on your stats. +5% better stats are very noticeable in other MMOs and using gear lower than your level is a big no no which is what i agree with.

OMG I ALMOST FORGOT..... KEY BINDING
i miss being able to key bind my abilities and spells to letter keys
i miss being able to key bind my movement to my mouse instead of the keyboard
*right mouse button = camera movement
*left mouse button = move forward
*mouse wheel click = move backward

you dont know how smooth it was to move around and battle with those settings ; ; /cry

I'm surprised no one has broken the rules yet.... I applaud you guys.

EDIT: Well, some have "flouted" the rules, but I'll still give you points.

Card system - similar like the materia system, but with more functions (autocast skills, +xx% dmg on [race/element/size] enemy, -xx% dmg from [race/element/size], card sets with set boni if all cards from the set is equiped)
War of Emperium - guild v. guild pvp to defend and conquer castles (2 days in the week each 2 hours)
Big dungeons - I wish something like Glast Heim in FF XIV, a dungeon with many levels where you can get lost if you don't know the way ^^

I agree with Felis about Ragnarok Online ^^
Also I would add the drop rate . I know this may sound stupid, but I loved how hard was getting some cards and equipment. I ended up loving my char!

    Dream Of Mirror Online
    The social system.
The friendship link, where the player was able to use like an "emergency" skill to save the life of a friend, for example.

    Aion
    -PVP and PVP while flying.
    -The world set
    -Cute stuff
    -The economy

    Lineage II
I didn't played much, but I like how the PK (player killer) system works. (The names turned orange/red if you kill another player while not dueling, so the other players take revenge then, etc.)

    PD: Forgive my English :P
