With false window decorations available it would be nice if all housing walls were empty. The default pillars and windows only make it more difficult to decorate.

the house always wins
in this case the house is a random pillar in the middle of the wall
so the literal house wins
Agreed. Can easily remove them and free up a ton of slots by removing the need to cover the walls with blank partitions first.

I was JUST going to come here to post this. I don't mind the windows so much but the pillars are the most irritating thing. I was so happy when I got my dream plot in Shirogane but Shirogane walls have got to be the most infuriating things to work with. The pillars are not only just downright hideous and bulky, but there's WAY TOO many of them! Not only that, but if you want to change the wallpaper, the red design at the bottom remains which can make other wallpapers look horrible AND the green at the top stays as well. WHY!?
I feel really bad to complain about it, since I did get a highly sought after plot in one of the most popular areas so I feel like I have no right to. But since this last housing patch has given so many people the chance to get a house, I feel like I can finally speak up on this. I really hate having to waste so much housing space just so that I can add walls to hide the current ugly walls. I wish SE would fix this problem. I don't know about other housing areas but I know this issue wasn't nearly as bad in Lavender Beds but it was definitely still annoying.

If windows/pillars are gotten rid of, lofts made by floating troupe stages, rugs, etc. can not be made anymore. That requires edges from permanent fixtures to work and getting rid of permanent windows would end what has been one of the best things to happen to housing decorating in a long time.
I would not want any of this to change until we can control the height any object can be set at.
I'd be content if we could cover over existing windows with any of the fake ones. The gothic stained glass ones cover existing windows just fine, but they only fit a certain style of decorating.
An option to have a completely blank interior as an alternative to the default would be very nice though. Then Square, please go one step further and let us choose whichever interior style we want.
I really don't see why a Lavender Beds interior can't be used in the Goblet for example. With customised exteriors, it makes little sense to keep the interiors strictly region locked.
One of the things I most want for housing.
