    Leveling BNT quick question

I've been leveling my BNT gathering class through leves and I hit 50(now51) and the guide I was using to know which leves to go to switched things up on me and now it's saying the best thing to do is lvl with scripts and it doesn't really explain it very well and I'm confused. The part I did understand was where it said don't bother leveling this way till you have 600 gp which I don't. I have a low 500something gp. Just a little confused on what to do. Should I just keep using leves for now to level?

Yes leves would still be the fastest/easier way to level.

You don't need 600gp. You can still get collectibles with less gp, it just means your returns will be less. Even getting one or two turn-ins per node of the lowest level collectible node in HW is worth doing.

Here's a video that came out at the beginning of HW when people only had like 500gp anyway. It'll explain what you should basically be doing. He's using mining as an example, but you'll do pretty much the same thing as botanist, only the node you'll be looking for to start out with is the Old World Fig, in dravanian forelands.

If you're consistently near the leves cap (which is 100) or you're simply not using them much, then definitely use them for BTN, but if you're leveling a Disciple of the Hand too (crafters) I would suggest to save the leves for them, it really saves a lot of time and money, since higher level craftings require more quantity/quality items.
In the end, with a gatherer like a BTN you can simply grind some experience up collecting items or simple old-fashioned gathering and make a profit out of it (which is kinda the whole point of the class = having crafters selfsustain and/or selling materials).

About Collectibles, it's easier than it looks, the GP range is there to make you understand how many abilities you're able to use to enhance your collectible rate, but as it has been mentioned already, it doesn't necessary means that you obtain nothing if you're under a certain threshold, you will simply get 1 or 2 items less or items with a lower collectability rate (of course, this strictly depends on the different nodes) thus receiving less exp/scripts.

Also, one final big suggestion, I don't know if you know already or if the guide you've been following mentions it, so I apologize beforehand, but it happened to me quite a few times to see people using "Toil Of The Pioneer" to discover un-reachable items inside a node, when try to gather from special time-nodes... well, that is a complete waste of 300 GP imho!
By now, every website/database oriented about gathering tells you on which specific slot you will find a certain item (like slot 1, slot 2, etc.) this means you can simply use a gathering attempt (ie: simply throw a hit) in that specific slot and you will un-cover the item you're looking for, then you can activate "Collector's Glove" and use your Appraisals/Collectable abilities to reach the result you want: in this way you lose a gathering attempt, but you save 300 GP (which is way better).
Of course, if you have never gathered that certain item, after the initial hit you will uncover it as unknown at 25% rate like always, so you will probably waste that node at this time just to "unlock it" for future gatherings.
Once you hit a certain level range, I suggest you to take some time and go identifying the different nodes so that when you're gonna need them for something, you will not waste your chance (obviously, I'm speaking about timed ones, but this works for persistent ones too)!

I apologize for the wall of text, hope this helps!

The thing about Collectibles is .. you basically only want to be doing timed nodes. At 51 you have access, as someone said, to Old World Fig, and that’s about it. Also, be sure to have gathered one OWF normally; you cannot gather an item Collectible until you’ve gathered it normally at least once.

I’m sure the guide you used mentioned also needing certain Perception minimums, to ensure getting enough Collectability per hit. If your Methodical Appraisal is doing less than 115 then you need to get more Perception. The amount of Perception needed to hit this mark will go up with the level of the item you are gathering, just as it goes up to get HQ when gathering normally.

For OWF, start out with Toil of the Pioneer, make sure the Collector’s Glove is on, then use Methodical Appraisal. That should be 115 Collectability. Use Discerning Eye and Methodical Appraisal. That should bring you over the 240 minimum. If not, then you should take another swing at it with Methodical Appraisal. Next up, collect as many as you can. Presuming that the exp reward has not changed, each one of those is worth about 60k exp, for about 240k exp for a minute’s work (180k if you needed an extra swing to reach the 240 Collectability).

Feel free to do Leves while waiting for OWF to open back up. Leves make a good supplement to Collectibles.

About GPs.... You can never have too much.

For HW collectables 650 GPs is ideal. I don't know if you can reach that at L 51 even with pentamelding and food. I do know there is a L 51 gathering set. Just for reference, I'm L70, BIS, almost fully pentamelded, can get to 750 GPs easily enough with food, and want to get to 800....

Also Chysahl Greens are collectable. Coerthas Western Highlands, 8:AM & PM.

Those are level 60. Not really feasible for a level 50 or 51.

OWF is really the only *good* Collectible for that level of BTN. The next good one comes at 53/54 ... and takes 600 GP. Its certainly attainable at that point.
