What do you buy with your poetics? It feels like there is nothing of value to use them on and I end up constantly having them at 2000. Is there any way to turn them to some gil?

The old crafting mats that you can buy from Idyllshire can be sold on the market board, but what those markets look like will be dependent on your server. It may not be worth it to sell them since they’re so easily obtainable. Unless you’re interested in doing older relics, or need gear for level 50 or level 60 jobs, best thing to do with your poetics would be to just buy pieces of Shire gear and turn them in for Grand Company Seals.

I do the same. Buy shire gear, sell those to GC, buy something with the seals such as ventures, cordial, or maybe some crafting mats to sell. Multi steps but yes poetics can be turned into gil.

You can also buy Unidentifiable Ore (150 Poetics) and then go to the other NPC and trade each ore in for a Grade 3 Thanalan Soil. You can sell those.

Note: You can do this in Idyllshire. I'd look up the specific NPC names and such for you, but the wifi I'm on right now is garbage.

Buy shields from Idyllshire (belts and accessories too,) turn in to GC for seals, use seals to buy Coke, sell Coke on marketboard.

Poetics options:

1 - buying Relic items in advance (check online resources to find out what they are). I personally don't do that because it's so easy to farm poetics that I can just buy them when I need it.
2 - buy level 50/60 gear for upcoming jobs (and once you no longer need it, trade them in for GC to do #3)
3 - buy accessories (or other gear,but accessories/shield have the best rate of GC/tome) -> hand them in to GC -> buy GC mats (Coke, potash, Raziqsand, Raziqsap, Animal Fat)
4 - buy Unidentifiable Ore -> hand them in at Idyllshire for Grade 3 thanalan soil -> use or sell . (Similarly with Unidentifiable Shell and Grade 3 Shroud soil)
5 - buy crafting mats in idyllshire. Be sure to compare market board to make sure it's worth more than just using #3.

Poetics = gil, the longer you stay capped, the more gil you're losing out on.

I use poetics to level desynth.

But the G 3 topsoils... Thanalin goes for 10K on Sarganatas, Shroud 13K.

Doing all relics so currently on last one for umbrite, then pretty much just for crafting items.
