the problem with the wrong character issue is it is a bug in some cases, and in others its user error and not wanting to admit itSeems like some people selectively loose the ability to read, if they think this thread was only about the last complaint, hell I would have just blacklisted the guy and ran with my nice profit.
I do agree with you some people think a bug causes all problems (like people activating the wron character)
in the case of the user error, no sympathy
in the case of the system error, yeah thats a whole nother issue altogehter

Hmmm can't we all get along ?? The other day I had a customer in real life hand me $100 when he meant to hand me the $50 he owed me for some materials. Now i could have taken that extra money and gone on my merry way, but i did not I gave it back because it was not mine. Did I do this for the customer, no, I did this for myself so I can go to sleep easy. Maybe we should have a thread on how there should be less greed and more looking out for each other in this game. It is for many of us what we enjoy spending our leisure time on, but since we are all human we all are prone to mistakes. I have accidentally sold things to the NPC. I have also either bought/sold things at the wrong price. When it comes to NPC I do not see the problem with asking for an undo button, or heaven forbid, actual customer service to deal with these issues. Unfortunately when it comes to interactions with our fellow players some sort of civility is necessary since actual human moderation is impossible to implement for obvious reasons. If I saw someone with an exorbitant amount on their repair screen I would tell them so out of courtesy, if someone bought an aldgoat steak out of my bazaar that is there for storage's sake I would give it back as soon as said transaction was brought to my attention. If something dropped into my loot list that was for someone else I would pass it. Not pointing fingers here just asking everyone to be civil to one another. We all make mistakes, but are people whining/crying when they are just asking for a little understanding? Should we really not be held accountable for shady dealings? Do threads need to be started to whine about whiners?
I blame moko for my own whining here, but I gave it a whirl

the problem is when it comes to real life, and stores and sales, if the customer gives you the wrong ammount, then you are obligated by law to give them the correct change back(if it cost 50 and he gave you 100, he gets change of 50 obviously)
if you were to hide the fact he gave you the wrong bill, youd actualy be commiting a crime, so thats why your concious didnt let you do it
in the equivilent to buying stuff from an npc in game, you cant give them more then they ask for.....
now if it was a "under the table sale" then thats a whole nother story in itself
this isnt about whats moral, and whats right, its about what people expect others to do in every situation out there when they make a mistake, they always want others to do what benefits them to fix things
good for you for not breaking the law though in pocketing the guys money :P

As far as "that" post, the guy made an unfortunate mistake, and the person who benefited from it appeared to be acting like a child. Since we don't actually own anything in this game, and due to the circumstances of the mistake, I don't think he's entitled to have the gil returned to him by a GM.
I also agree that lots of people try to pass the blame on. It happens everywhere, but it's nothing even remotely new, and it'll probably never stop. If there's a point in time where it does stop, we'll likely either have been wiped out of existence as a species, or we managed to attain world peace.
Edit: I guess one might consider being wiped out of existence as a species as a means for world peace, but, that's neither here nor there, I just wanted to add that on.![]()
