Take Castrum/Praetorium out of Mentor Roulette

I can deal with an hour of wiping to extreme trials but 40 mins of not playing the game is not worth 10 measly tomestones. Since reworking the duties to not be awful is too much effort then only people who actively choose to do the awful should have to suffer.

Not going to happen. It's called a "Roulette" for a reason.

And if you're using Mentor Roulette for rewards other than gil, wins for title/Astrope, and/or helping people because you want to, you are choosing the wrong roulette to queue in.

Disagree. Mentor Roulette includes basically everything except Coil, Savage, and current Extremes. It should, by default, contain all instances required for MSQ progression, which would include Castrum and Praetorium.

I can agree that Mentor Roulette tomestones could be increased just a little bit, but the point of the roulette isn’t tomestones: it’s for helping other players. If you don’t like the idea of maybe getting something you don’t want to do from the roulette, don’t queue up for it.

Then please explain how to help people when watching cutscenes for 40 minutes. I do the roulette because teaching people the basics in dungeons or the strats of extreme trials is fun. There is no fun to be had and no help to be given in the mess that Praetorium has become.

Mentor Roulette is also used to fill queues. You being put in there helped fill a queue that new players were probably utilizing. If there were new players in your Castrum or Praetorium that you got through Mentor Roulette, and they needed to clear it to progress, then you fulfilled one of the purposes of the roulette. Both actually: you helped a new player achieve a needed queue and get through the instance, even if you didn’t have to explain any of the mechanics.

Mentor roulette is like russian roulette, you won't know what you get til it comes. I like helping people, but I also want to get "good" rewards for my time. 40+ mins of non-skippable cutscenes is not really helping people and the rewards are meh at best. It's a slippery slope though. On one hand you want to help players, but on the other hand you value your time in game and also want some compensation for your efforts.

In my case, I don't bother with MSQ roulette anymore. As far as Mentor roulette, I only do it if I feel like it. Often times I'll get a extreme trial or a Alliance Raid or a 4 man dungeon. I've yet to get these 2 dungeons, but if I ever do, I'll gladly eat whatever penalty/with a side of frosted flakes I get.

My advice: Just don't queue into them.

Did it occur to you that the "help" needed is people to fill the ranks?

Stop being selfish and help out..or take the badge off and walk away.

Mentor Roulette is fine. If you can't commit the time...don't do it.
And to add to that - you're expected to HELP....not just show up for your "daily reward".

totally agree. in this trashdungons is nothing to help. its a hard waste of time. a mentor should not be kindergarten teacher. if i ever get one of this 2 dungeons i just take my right to leave and gather or craft for 30 minutes. the new ones want to watch the clips? go and watch them with 7 other new ones.

Then you don't really deserve to be a Mentor, in my opinion. The roulette is there to not only instruct new players, but also keep the queues moving. if you aren't willing to help new players through MSQ content such as Castrum and Praetorium (which is a significant wall in MSQ progression like all other MSQ instances), then please remove yourself from the Mentor System. It's as simple as that. You help by filling a queue. Don't want to help? Then don't be a person that is openly advertising to help other players.

i never had a problem with this 2 dungeons. se made the problem. im not willing to waste my time to help someone to watch some clips. im pretty sure they can solve it without a mentor.

i rly like to help. but like i said. this 2 dungeons are stupid easy. what should i tell them in it? oh yes i know.

and in my opinion 80%-90% of all "mentors" dont deserve it to be one. always dead , unable to tank more then 3 enemys , lower dps then all others in a group , no clue what to do with a stackmarker. the list of trashmentors is endless.

then please remove yourself from the Mentor System.
