I wouldn't call it a booming market. If it were developers would still be making new ones.I mean, you could either admit your tastes are niche/older, or you can just live in denial that the only good MMOs were massive time sinks by and large. It's ok to have a preference for those, but ti's insane to argue that somehow your tastes are just better than the booming market the genre has become.

They were booming for quite a while during QoL and ease of grinding changes were being made. Old school massive time sinks, insanely long term goals, and grinding are an acquired taste that's certainly fallen out of favor for many.
And they 'are' still being made, but their cost is an insane investment for most companies.
