Look at all the negativity up off in here... With attitudes like these is it any wonder some of you are skeptical of FF14 and/or Eureka? Personally I think Eureka is very interesting, particularly with the way it's re-introducing elemental affinity, and am looking forward to giving it a try.

I'm not saying stop being downers for being burnt out, but if you're burnt out then just take the break you need for as long as you need and come back when you want to. I took a pretty long break myself and didn't come back for 4.2, but am gonna come back and give Eureka a go and while at it catch up by doing 4.2 content. I'm not gonna go in expecting anything, I just wanna give it a shot. If I get bored again I'll just take another break. Even while on break though I haven't been negative toward FF14, I just didn't feel like playing it was all, and FF14 isn't to blame for me feeling that way. There is plenty to do, and there always will be, but not everyone will see it that way and that's ok. Doesn't mean SE and FF14 are at fault, that's just a simple case of lack of interest. Can't expect someone to just throw in whatever to make a select few want to play because that might make others leave.

People, myself included, don't have much faith in our devs producing content with longevity and long term goals. Short of the devs implementing content like this, as others have stated, I can re-sub 2 months before the next expansion and experience all the content without paying for a sub for two years. Lets be honest about the game currently.... we grind out tomestones or weekly raid drops for ilv which doesn't even really matter.

I don't see there being lots to do either... daily roulettes for tomestones which are very easy and fast to cap each week, weekly 8man raids for drops, outdated 24man raids for no reason. Primals.... did them all, old mounts.... have them, beast tribes.... already complete. At this point would would have to claim auxiliary content is enough of a reason to log in... GS, crafting, ect...

Its great that you are enjoying the game. There are many however that are not.... most of the people I know in game barely log in anymore due to the content implemented in 4.x so far. Ultimate carters to a very small segment of the game population, and PvP/Rival Wings never really took off.

This is what I've been talking about on this forum for a while now but of course the White Knights like their stale pretzels apparently. Honestly, the only thing keeping me subbed atm is my house (which I know I will lose if I take a extended break). I'm selling crafted items and doing what I can in game to earn a lot of gil so in the event that I do lose my house, if housing becomes available for me in the future I'll have the funds to get a new house. Til then, I intend to stay subbed so I can keep my house and because I'd miss chatting with some of my favorite people on Novice Network.

Ninja Edit: I don't have high hopes for Eureka either. I feel it will end up like Diadem. I "hope" it will work out but I won't hold my breath.

Just know that if you want to go the route of "I'll only sub during an expansion drop", know that the option is there.
Use the Free Log In Campaigns that the game does every couple months (usually after major patches or big content... like this Eureka coming out).

You'll be able to play the MSQ and enjoy the game for a couple days for free. No hassle with gear or throwing yourself at the boredom wall.

I think we are here because we would like to not go that route.

I guess I'm one of those few who went with the "vote with your wallet" option and unsubbed. I only resubbed for the 3.3 patch drop and two months for Stormblood.... All else post 3.0 I've ridden the coat tails of the Free Log In Campaigns (with the exception of now, which my FC mates generously bought me a time card).

Prior to unsubbing, I had the same issues as had been addressed in this thread. Ilvl goalpost moving, cash shop exclusives, more and more content being gutted simply because SE can retain the playerbase with little backlash.
After riding so many Free Log In Campaigns, I've come to realize I have no issues with any of the above.
    I've never missed any MSQ.
I've never had an issue with gear progression. Farm half a day getting the second highest tome gear (Creation Tomes currently) can meet the minimum ilvl for any content worth doing.
No longer have an issue with content drought. Play to my heart's content for a couple days and leave for a few months.
And I didn't pay a dime for it.

I think it's great that there are others that feel the same as me, that the game hasn't turned out how I wanted. But I voted with my wallet, and still retain the enjoyment I get out of the MSQ without paying for it.
And surely if others feel the same, know that the option is still there.

Step back and look at SE's track record with new content. Look at Diadem and how much they hyped it up, only for it to turn into quite possibly the biggest flop of Heavensward. Honestly I'm expecting very little from Eureka, it just smells to me like Diadem 2.0.

The game is extremely stale. The only changes worth looking at come at expansion transitions, then they just fall right back into that same hallway of content they repaint every few months.

What the game offers and what we do with it are 2 entirely different things. How we choose to enjoy what we have is the difference between how people play the game. An MMO on the other hand is all about playing the game with other people, and for that you don't even need to rely on content. You could just hang out and goof off if you wanted! But content can differ depending on the people you play it with, and if you're only playing an MMO to complete it then why are you even playing an MMO? That's what single player games are for.

As for PvP, SE ruined it with the XP rewards. It attracted bots and that ruined the experience for the true PvP community.

Treating expansions that way is honestly akin to just playing a new game. If an MMO has gotten that stale to you then perhaps it is time to move on. Plenty of single player games out there to play and complete or other MMOs to try, although I don't recommend MMOs with a mindset like that. Also if you have come to expect disappointment from a company then why play their games?

Bottom line, I just don't see why people hang around and complain when they're burnt out or they believe content in an MMORPG has gotten stale. It feels like you play the game with a single player mindset and while you obviously have a reason you cling to the game it seems like that reason is doing naught but torment you. I don't blame anyone for distrusting a company, plenty I distrust, but playing their games while distrusting them... You just set yourself up for disappointment.

Hey, if you want to pay for a glorified chat room, go for it. Not me, though.
