Is it the content itself, or the expectations they had for the content? The content itself has been quite enjoyable IMO.
Also, if the majority of people were unhappy with the game, why are they still here? I have a feeling the sample size is quite small in this.
Well, my FC is half the size in was in 4.1.... so not all are still here. As others have said, the extra content we got was for such a small segment of the game's population. 2 PvP modes got updates... which pvp in general isn't all that popular. Ultimate serves only the smallest fraction of the community. Performance, glamour dressers and the like I don't count... those aren't battle content, and have their place in the game.
Personally I don't need,or want the whole game to be changed like others on here have stated they would. I just want auxiliary content that has slow progression with a long term reward structure. Hopefully Eureka provides this, if not I will play at expansion launches like I originally said in my 1st post.

aside the fact that your majority is not the majority of all, expressing concern or dissatisfaction over a product hoping for it to improve =/= expressing hate for said product, the devs and the company and having no hope for it to change

I've seen this kind of cycle before. What I mean is that asking 'why are they still here?' doesn't have a clear black and white answer. People are still here, yes. But that could be for a variety of reasons. It's hard to measure if people still love the game unconditionally, or are merely still here because they're in a transition phase and haven't yet found anything better to play. And I'm seeing an increase in the amount of people that speak as if they are in the transition phase, because as far as I've seen, SE has spent the past 2-3 years not really addressing the fact that they have locked themselves into a predictable patch cycle. Is it the content itself, or the expectations they had for the content? The content itself has been quite enjoyable IMO.

My former raid group in particular had half of its members quit the game two weeks before 4.2 came out for this very reason, and I haven't been able to find another raid group since on account of the vast majority of raid groups running at evenings, when I have to work. One member in particular was extremely upset that there wasn't really anything long-term to work on this expansion cycle - that relics being tied to Eureka and Eureka being delayed as long as it was, was a really terrible decision. And that's coming from a raider, where the need to have relics for gearing isn't necessary, but it gave them something to do.
It took me two years to quit from my previous MMO, after all. And one year to quit from the one prior to that. It's not to say that I am even in the transition phase right now (as I am not), but more to say that someone can not just drop an MMO immediately, especially if they've invested years into the game.

"Consider this old adage: When a Bard sings alone in a desert, and no one is around to hear him... Is he truly singing?"

Probably because its one of the only MMOs on the market with decent graphics, and a lot of people are FF fans so they end up being passionate about the game, like all FF.Is it the content itself, or the expectations they had for the content? The content itself has been quite enjoyable IMO.

Don't really think this is a small sample size, as posts like these have been happening more regularly since the release of HW, just takes a bit for people to realize most of the stuff is just a rehash and not a lot of variety going on.
Your free to disagree and think the game is great and good for you, but people are also free to think the game is stale and post that they would like to see change.

*Majority
*Dissatisfaction
Corrected for ya.
hate for a product? re-read the original post and tell me where I was hating on the product.

I believe they are referring to other posts in the thread, in which people seem to downright loathe the game, and think the devs will fail at anything they add. See VoltyBlast's comments.

Not saying you were, I actually agree on some of your points, but some have posted and have stated that the company won't do ever and everything will be forever shit which if you ask me is not helpful in criticism
@usho ty, I corrected the post
