I think it's the coloring that makes Goblet undesirable. Granted that it's inspired by the desert. A little color would be nice.

I like the Goblet just as it is. I liked it more than the other areas also before revamp, but I know I am in the minority XD that said I wouldn't be opposed to more greenery added here and there, plants that fit in a desert-oasis environment. Not going overboard with those though, just a few

I feel like there would always be a least popular area. We have four housing areas and if Goblet were revamped to make it more preferable, something else would just take its place as least favorite.

The problem is Goblet isn't just the "least popular". Goblet is more like the red headed step child that no one wants (yes, there are plenty of exceptions and people that do like it, but not the majority). If you look at the housing census thread, a lot of servers will have like 40-50 smalls open in LB & Mists and Goblet will have like 100-200 smalls open.
I don't care if it is still the least popular area, I just want it brought up to where it's not dead last by a large margin. Add some small little things, a few extra fountains, sprucing up the tunnels so you don't feel like you're about to be mugged, some extra cacti/ trees/ shrubs to give it a bit more greenery, add some of the blue accents from brimming heart to the rest of the zone, etc. SE has to be able to see how bad Goblet is compared to the other housing districts just like we can. I wish they would do something about it. The resort pool was a nice first step, they really need to expand on that just a little and bring the rest of the zone up to snuff.

Rabinastre and hidden springs come to mind when I think of what goblet should be like
The layout is awkward past the initial swimming area.
If it were more symmetrical, the large houses facing the swimming pools, the paths more clearly visible with left and right option to ascended, it wouldn't feel so clunky.

Also, the houses are ugly. I prefer not to use housing glamours that don't fit the local theme, and the Goblet's house designs are the main reason I'd never move there.

Goblet is fine. People just don't have good tastes.

Fine for some, yes. But when it has been over a month and Goblet houses remain largely untouched and other areas remain mostly full...there's clearly an issue. A little more color and vibrant atmosphere would work wonders. I don't see how anyone could be unhappy with that.
That said, my house walls (Shirogane Castle medium) clipped through stairs pretty bad in the Goblet at my location, plot 25. That, along with the fact I'm surrounded by empty plots (seriously, the place is deserted) and the lack of any real visual appeal caused me to finally give up the ghost. Used the gil I had earned from Eureka to move to Lavender Beds, which was where I wanted to be to begin with. Goblet needs some changes, that much is obvious. Doesn't need to be anything major. Just enough to make it more appealing to the masses. If they want people to make the most of the housing system we have, they need to make ALL areas appealing to as many people as possible. The pool area was an excellent start. They should expand on that.
