    Psychic Dodge Tank Job

using a meter to fill psionic energy the psychic can predict attacks before it happens once all gone the psychic has to refill the meter in just use mitigation. creating illusions in enemies mind to incite them to attack the psychic to gain psionic energy in tank.

Wouldn't work. Because this game relies on guaranteed unavoidable damage. If that tank could dodge a tank buster it'd be over powered like crazy. But if it can't dodge anything that matters it'd be useless.

And you can't really half dodge something it either hits you or it doesn't..

Exactly. It's a no win. If the job can consistently dodge busters, it's broken, and if it can't then what's the point?

The only way I could see it work is if you had an invuln skill that let you dodge the next X seconds of *most* damage on a massive CD- which would just be another flavor of Hallowed Ground. But then it would just be a normal tank with normal mitigation and a dodge-based invuln and not really a "dodge tank".

    LOL - Ultra Instinct tank.

Anyway a true dodge tank would be broken.

However, it could have an ability or trait that - for each successful Parry or dodge increases Evasion and Parry rate by X%, for a maximum of 20% and 40% respectively.

To make it balanced the buff would need either:
A short duration (something like 7s), and stack with itself. Stacks are lost if no parry or dodge happens before the buff runs out.

    Or

Have it tied to a Job meter similar to how warrior's critical hit rate increases with the beast gauge.

Let's consider for a moment, though, how it might work if dodge actually worked in a sensible manner.

For instance, let's say that rather than varying +/- 5% damage, attacks simply varied by +/- 5% accuracy, where accuracy equates not to chance, but a point along, say, the descending half of a normal bell curve -- susceptible to rapid falloff. At 50+% damage, combo bonuses, chains, and additional effects are applied as normal. (This would allow for up to an accuracy deficiency of up to 33% while still comboing, etc.)
Similarly, blocking would be primarily flat damage reduction, and parrying a combination of the two (flat reduction and ramping effective percentile).
Your Accuracy (no longer stackable as a gear stat, but simply based on level and position) would be reduced by your target's Evasion, and vice versa. Thus as the dodge-tank stacks and spends Evasion, he's reducing damage by a fluid, equivalent proportion.

Now, he might do that in a few different ways, even then. Perhaps the evasion fed to him through his abilities will be consumed based on effective damage mitigation, as per a shield. Perhaps it's openly enemy-scalar, as with other percentile mitigation. Or it could be a combination of the two. Perhaps he could even choose for his resource expenditure to go in one way or the other, using flat reduction to smooth out smaller spikes and percentile reduction to deal with the would-be largest hits.

Yeah, uh, that’d be broke. Not even the devs would approve it. Who here remembers 2.0 Shadeshift before Heavensward? That thing ignored physical damage ONCE and was a godsend for Earthshakers.
