Quick question
1) anyone know if STR potions affect PLD magical phase (Holy Spirit damage)
2) and if yes, is it better to aim potion use to magical phase, or FoF phase
?

PLD spells are based off their STR stat, so yup; you'd want to use STR potions to buff up your Holy Spirits. For reference, it would also buff Clemency.
I'm no PLD main, but IIRC Requiescat phase is more powerful than FoF. Without any raid buffs, you'd get more out of it there.
1. Every damage skill (including Holy Spirit) is determined by your STR value. MND and/or INT do not account to any damage, nor magic damage.
2. An In Depth look at Paladin
The section 'Fight or Flight vs. Requiescat' says everything you want to know.
tl;dr:
Solo: your Req opener is stronger than FoF opener.
In party: FoF opener is probably stronger than Req opener due to debuffs on boss and/or buffs on you.
Use infusion of strength, it has long enough duration to cover both Req and FoF windows if you pop it at the right time.
Basically my opener looks like this: Fast->Riot->Fight or Flight->Circle of Scorn->Goring Blade->Spirits Within->Fast->Infusion of Strength Grade 2->Riot->Royal->Fast->Riot->Royal->Fast->Riot->Goring->Requiescat->Holy Spirit x5
Infusion pot runs out just after you cast the last Holy Spirit.

Every ability for every job scales from their main stat I believe, the only exception is physick on SMN.
At this point feels like they may as well roll STR/DEX/INT/MND into one stat.
I miss the days of a pld with mind.
But 1.0 style not ARR. Wouldn't work out these days...

Even though the Intelligence stat says it increases damage for tanks... :deepthought:
Thx for replies, esp the link from Ariane.
