Returning player with question about multi-classing

I want to use skills from other classes, but can't figure out how to do it.

We used to be able to do that, is that gone? Or am I missing something simple?

Its not a thing anymore.

Cross-class actions have been removed. These have been replaced with Role actions instead. Role actions should still be under additional actions.

Most of what is out there on the net is also out of date.

The "additional" actions tab has abilities that were akin to old cross-class skill stuff, and they're role specific, like melee DPS has different set than ranged, ranged physical and magic have their own and such.

As you level you unlock access to them.

Role Actions were added with the Stormblood expansion back in June of last year.

Let it be said that if you were into crafting and gathering, those still retained their cross-job actions. Mostly because removing those would require overhauling the entire system at levels 1-50 and no one wants that.

From when it was a big deal, about six years.

From when it was a minor bonus, less than two.
