Returning Player - How to divide my time

    Good Morning!

I am a returning player starting a new character on Omega EU. I will be playing very casually due to work and other such commitments so am seeking advice.

I played ARR on PS3 and got to 50 DRG with all the DRG gear, I unfortunately missed the transfer window as I have only just got a PS4 and the want to really get back into the world; I certainly missed it!

As I'm PS4 I feel like everything I do is clunky, I've tried my best to look at some console set ups including HUD layout bar setups that seem to be working. I'm PUG so any PS4 player tips here will be very much appreciated.

Really what I want to know is if I should stick with the story with my first chosen class, or start another class that may interest me like GLD/PLD, but therefore leaving the story until I am at the level needed again.

I'm only managing to sink a few hours here and there so it's difficult to prioritise! Wish I was still at Uni with all the time in the world!

Welcome back, you do have a few options. I would start by leveling a TANK role and just get the Main story done. That will unlock a lot of features for you specially if your crunched up on time. You can also use some of those new jump potions a swell -.-; I rather play normally though the story is awesome. Second PS4 setting vary and I had to tweak mine PSN is not really reliable so I only use it if I'm away from my PC on work or vacation, yet would suggest to play on PC 64bit based system. At work I look to review patch notes so might be a good idea to do so being a lot has changed. Good luck. ^^

If you want to make chatting less clunky, at some point invest in a wireless keyboard. Makes a world of difference. Im not a PS4 pro, but some of the cross-hotbar setups seem to work fairly well. Ill leave specifics there for someone who knows better.

As for story vs other classes, thats ultimately up to you. A second(third etc) class will level up much more quickly then a primary class will(due to bonus exp and having more options unlocked), and having more classess leveled up can certainly be an advantage. But as someone with limited available time, getting to new(to you) content sooner would have real value too. So would getting to switch from DPS que to Tank que. Only you know whats more important to you.

Thank you for your reply. I have now started leveling GLD as I like the idea of PLD more than the others. I'm already 12 and enjoying it although real tanking is yet to come. Yes I would definitely like to enjoy the story and level with it rather than skip, it's all part of the experience! Maybe I can sneak in a bit of patch reading with my sneaky forum time at work!

Hi Frizze thank you for replying. I've already gone through two keyboards to get the right one for me, I know have a compact backlit one that can change colours! But it works and feels great which is most important... (8 different colours whhhatt). I'm now looking to progress GLD through the story just need to catch up but shouldn't take long. I can already see the benefits and it is fun to be doing something a bit different from my original slog through levels (still very quickly in the grand scheme of things). Looking forward to jump into some of the first nooby dungs.
