I think if the songbirds stay they should be a background, not involved in quests at all, just there singing in the stage and NPCs cheering. This holiday was never about them and they took the spotlight for 3 years in a row now.

I wanna see Ulala start her solo career. She's my favorite of the Songbirds. I remember when I first saw her wearing sunglasses trying to fend off fans in Limsa Lominsa. I laughed so hard and I like her confidence and sassiness.
She's got that hilarious diva personality and I definitely wanna see more of her.

I've done all the quests since the beginning, but I don't really feel anything one way or another towards the Songbirds. They were just... there. I don't want to sound curmudgeonly, idol groups and glowstick raves just aren't my cup of tea.
My first thought when reading the line about this being our last meeting was that it foreshadowed their tour bus crashing and, years later, the subsequent Behind the Music episode documenting their soaring highs and crushing lows. It was all quite entertaining in my head.
I think the songbirds should stay.... as NPCs we can hire to sing in our FC hosues

This was the first time I’ve been here for this event, and I didn’t ‘get’ any reason to find the Songbirds appealing. No buildup, one song that wasn’t all that enjoyable to listen to, and it’s just assumed that you are already familiar with them. “Pick a shirt and support your favourite performer!” ...um, what if I don’t even know who I’m picking? (I chose red because it was going to look least-awful on me. It still looked awful.)
Also, the second plot was really dark in its backstory and felt quite jarring next to the ‘yay pop idols’ theme. Also I feel like it would have made more sense if it had been they guy’s sister and not his aunt? More of a personal connection.

This event is probably way more popular on JP side? Most here are likely not be the target audience. Personally, I enjoyed the continuity (them mentioning you or introducing themselves) providing your participation in previous years' events. The rewards were pretty nice but the songbirds themselves show little 'development'.
What I'd like to see is more backstage drama, we all know it's not all peachy and rosy there. It was interesting to see the other side of such 'innocently naive' event too, s*** got real pretty fast. Looking forward to see how that will play out.

Ah yes, I’ve come across the Highlander group quite a few times.

I didn't think they were random at all. They have a cameo in the Hildibrand quests, too.

Honestly, I was surprised we had the Songbirds again THIS year. I was pretty sure we'd be doing something in Doma to revitalize the spirits of the people, or something in Kugane as part of a cultural celebration. With all the opportunity in cultures based on the real world cultures which celebrate Little Ladies Day, it felt WEIRD to be celebrating in Ul'dah again.
I'm guessing they just didn't have time to do anything else. That or they want to do the next one in Doma, but that requires the Enclave being fully repaired.
I would be interested in seeing a battle of the bands between the Songbirds, the trio in the Gold Saucer and the 3 Elezen we saw in the post moogle quest line.
