I do like the rave emotes, though.
Oh, I really liked the Lonesome Lass story. We need more of that kind of thing in Little Ladies Day.

It's that I feel the Songbirds shouldn't just disappear.

And... I love the glow stick emotes! Aren't the glow fun? trying to come up with a game using them. I'm open to suggestions.

I can't be the only one who dislike this quest. It's a celebration, it should be jovial. There are many way to involve that tingling heart warming feeling without the unnecessary drama. This quest could have been about the WOL making a orphan day by becoming her knight for a day. We have Zhloe who runs an orphanage and M'naago running something similar. But noooo, it has to be about a child getting ... you know what the game implied. I'm not saying a story like this should not exist, but time and place for everything. This quest story can have it splace as a side quest somewhere else, it's only put here for the sake of drama with the intention of a shock treatment for maximum effect. Given the players' reaction it probably is considered a success, but for me it's just the case of lacking true creative writing using excessive drama as a clutch. Good writing can still give people powerful feeling without the drama, but I think very often times these days the writers just go with the "hum, we want a powerful feeling here ... oh I know, let's just show a child getting killed here, easy!".

Think of it this way: We ensured the ghost of a long dead girl could rest in peace while also giving some closure to someone who would have been her nephew. We never saw her die, everything that happened to her happened years ago, possibly before your character was even born givin the age of her nephew.

Just because its a holiday doesn't mean everything is fine and dandy, in many ways holidays can actually have a higher chance of bad things happening to you in comparison, accidental or otherwise.

It gives you a sense of how long ago her death happened. If she was his sister it could have happened, say, one year ago. But being her nephew (and being anywhere from a baby to a toddler at the time of her death) shows that the event happened quite a bit more time beforehand, while also giving good reason why we haven't had similar events happen in previous LLD events: The new security efforts put into the event since that time have helped in stopping such things from happening again.

He’s an old man though - even if it was his sister, it would have happened many years ago, except it could then be someone he remembered personally.

This is a great idea! Then the girls would've had genuine involvement and character development.

If it helps, the Gold Saucer usually spawns them somewhere in the Saucer even outside of the designated event timeframe. It even spawns Tataru from time to time. Unless SE removes them from there as well, they won't really be gone. Though you can't interact with them. They're basically token background npcs like 98% of the zone inhabitants.

Really? I’ve never seen any of them there. Are they in specific places? The only occasional NPC I’ve come across is the gambler guy that sometimes shows up in the event hall. (And elsewhere, the girl from the rogues’ guild who is often hanging around outside the Bismarck.)

Yes they do, I remember seeing them during the make it rain event (it doesn't mean they only appear during the MIR event just it was when I saw them).

Usually I find them in the Event Square. Normally there's a small group hovering around them. There's also a uh, "extreme opposite" spawn possibility in the Event Square that is a trio of beefy Highlanders in the Songbird color coordinated sailor suits standing in front of another Highlander coach of sorts, the trio mimicking the emotes the coach does, though one of the "Songbird" Highlanders is a bit slow on the uptake and doesn't do all of the mimicry correctly.

The also showed up in the starting cities during the last Starlight festival although you couldn't interact with them, so the probably will still be in the background even if the story is moving on.
