Extreme primals do not belong in Mentor roulette.

I've done a lot of mentor roulettes and it's been a largely rewarding experience. In many cases I have provided meaningful guidance to new players and returners with the overwhelming exception of almost all Extreme primals.

ARR and HW extremes are designed for skilled players to learn over multiple hours and execute as a team; not for a group of novices to pug, learn, and defeat in a 60 minute time frame. As a mentor, I always explain each fight's mechanics, but inevitably groups wipe, become frustrated, and fall apart.

All other content in Mentor roulette is casual content that lends itself to successful Mentor-novice interactions. Why are Extreme fights included on Mentor roulette at all? To help finish quest chains? That's easily taken care of by unsynced Party Finder and Wondrous Tails.

Maybe a new "Extreme" roulette can be added for old Savage raids and Extreme primals, but including them in Mentor roulette just sets up situations that are unsuccessful and unfun.

    "Skilled players".

    No.
Average player who know how to question and watch mechanics can deal with and clear that kind of content.

Besides, that's precisely what the mentor system is here for.
To unlock the mentor roulette, you need to clear every extreme because you're expected to be able to help newcomers on every type of content.
If the group isn't patient, this isn't the fault of the content, but the group itself. On the other hand, you can match with people who will stay until the end of the timer and possibily clear it.

    This roulette works as intented.

Agreed. Likewise even if it was not cleared by the end of the timer, it would be a great learning experience for the said people who qued for it.

Personally, when I queue for the mentor roulette, I'm hoping the get an Extreme trial cause I know that's where I can people the most.
Even if we don't clear, as long as there is progression that's fine.

If there was a separate roulette for just EX primals, it can be guaranteed that literally no one would do them, especially when players can just unsync them and have it finished in minutes. At the end of the day part of being a Mentor is to assist new players or others doing a duty for the first time in completing it. Yes some groups clear and some do wipe but if Mentors are just expecting a constant easy roulette, sorry but that's not good enough. We were all in the situation of being new players back in the day and they deserve a chance at content as much as anybody else.

Garuda, Bismark, Odin, Ravana, Laksmi, Susano, and maybe Ramuh (depends on the tanks) are all very puggable even blind with undergeared sprouts. Especially Odin because it's hard to not to clear that one with max echo.

It's threads like this that highlight EXACTLY why everyone rolls their eyes at the mentor crown. The players most likely to fail at mechanics are most likely to be wearing it.

That's pretty much my opinion and experience too, so yeah, agreed.

Lakshmi and Susano EX aren't in the roulette. Ramuh is the hardest ARR EX since it requires people to pay attention to more than one thing at a time. The only ones I can see being real bad are Seph, Zurv and maybe Nid, but then Seph will wipe a party of 70s if they don't know the mechs.
