Healer Horror Stories: Redux

I have a 354 geared WM job I just leveled but only heal for friends. You could not entice me in any way to heal raids/groups of toxic strangers. I have seen the way healers are treated while dpsing, not ever gonna happen to this child...

This is part of the reason I am not rushing to unlock this content. I love healing as main but even in regular content you get a ton of people who criticize when I am DPS. "You are letting my health get too low." No, actually you haven't gotten below 50% and no huge damage is coming so I'm gonna let my HoT's do their thing...

Frankly you'll find someone who'll take objection to something eventually no matter what you do. Be respectful, friendly and try your best, this way you can massively reduce the odds of bumping into 'that guy'. <3

I recently got a white mage in my group who flamed me because "dps as healer is meta" and the guy don't like meta cuz meta players are no brain and don't have a single bit of personnality. Damn boy xD

Yep, you'll find one every once in a while that flat out wants a zero-DPS healer. I've taken the 30 minute penalty because of this exact reason twice since Stormblood released. I'm not gonna sit back and do nothing for 90% of the run. Usually I've found that its zero cooldown paper tanks who complain about healer DPS more than anyone else (both instances I've left the tank has also been a mentor). I can only assume they want a pure healer so they can max out pull size despite being severely undergeared & underskilled for it.

Qued Alliance roulette. Got weeping city, other healer was also an Ast.
First pull they ran to the blocked off exit and waited, no sect, no help.
Saw this, went awwhellnaw and after the first boss we kicked.

Got a really nice Whm who liked to heal while i mitigated.

As a healer in DF, not bad, sometimes had co-healers who wouldn't heal except themselves or even raise, and die to mechanics, then quit. Not sure what's up with that but I don't mind it now it then. In a good party, solo healing is enough even in Rabanastre it turns out. It's when I'm not healing that I do mind lazy healers like gtfo here.

Did Lighthouse, as a WHM, got an AST who was in Di...then they bitched about Protect. when i countered, I was told because i wasn't a legacy player I didn't know anything. *facepalms* my fiance, that I talk, and formulate my opinions with, is beta legacy. so, I'm fairly certain that I know what changes have been made and can look at them objectively. (Shields would have been nice...instead of a second Party Wide AOE.)

Another Lighthouse story. Except I didn't go in as a healer, but as paladin. We got to construct 7. For some reason, of the 2 other warriors that MT'd the previous fights... suddenly both decided they didn't want to tank. BLM in my party ate the first tankbuster, so I dropped to tank stance, provoked, and tanked for the rest of the fight. Went more or less smoothly from there.

Except at the end some guy meme-macros complaining about the off tank pulling, calling me a grey parsing shitter among other things in those block letters.

Like healing at times, it feels like you just can't win.

Was levelling my SCH in Bardam's Mettle today and loaded in with a tank in all level 60 gear. "Okay," I think, "he's probably new. We can take it slow and make it through."

Without saying anything, tank starts out with single pulls, which is good. However, even with only 2 enemies he loses enmity on both of them every pull. "That's alright, he's still learning. I'll just hold back on DPS and focus on spot healing the guys who pull aggro," I think. Then, before the second boss, he double pulls the biggest packs in the dungeon. I burn 3 Aetherflow (Excog and 2 Lustrates), Largesse, Rouse, two Emergency Tactics, many Adlo, and finally eat Eos in an unsuccessful attempt to keep him alive (meanwhile the BLM is in single target rotation, but whatever...). I say "I don't think you're tanky enough to double pull that," prompting the following exchange.

Tank: "No, you just suck at healing."
Me: "Well, I used all my CDs and ate the fairy too, there's not much more I can do at that point."
Tank: "You're a fairy, you [homophobic slur]."
Me: "Okay, whatever..." thinking we can just move on and clear.

We make it through to second boss single pulling.

Tank: "See, half health with only two enemies," and a hugely insulting homophobic sentence I can't repeat here.
Me (trying to stay cool): "It's better for me to use GCDs on DPS if you're not going to die,"
Our NIN: "Why are you calling him out for bad healing if you can't even hold enmity?"
Tank: "I'll show you ****ing [homophobic slur] not holding enmity."

At this point, the NIN and I votekick him for harassment and say something to the effect of "why was he being such a jerk when he was so bad at tanking himself?" The BLM (who in retrospect probably queued with the tank, as they were from the same server) says we're even worse than the tank and drops party.

We refill the ranks and clear, but good lord. I've never had a worse experience in this game -- I actually had to stop playing and do something else.
