Frustrating Design

Dear FFXIV designers (and/or devs depending on how you do things at SE),

I've just spent a month affected by bug where I couldn't select "Use" on most of my items. Turns out the reason why is that I had my saddlebag open.

Because the first day of the patch I hotkey'd saddle+inventory to my "inventory hotkey" and never bothered to only open only the inventory whenever I'm not forced to. Why would you ever open only the inventory once you have the saddlebag? (rethorical question, I've an ultra wide monitor so I've space to spare and I like to have everything on my sight).
Not all items are prevented from being used when saddlebag is opened, so, beside the fact that the behaviour is not what you would expect (unless you are aware of all the issues people have been writing about in this thread), it is also inconsistent, which makes it look even more like a bug.
