It would expand on customization for those role-players also I REALLY WANT Pure white Raen scales for my Raen...(note that scale colors would need to match for lore reason like Raen having light color scale and Xaela having darker colored scales)

Not entirely sure they could do this as they've stressed multiple times how hard it would be to add additional categories on top of what we already have, or add perimeters within the latter to add for something that hasn't been considered before. I too however would like this if they ever found a way to do it. >.>
Pink Scales,please.
They would have added that if it was "possible" for them but Yoshida always goes back to the "characters don't have enough memory for more customs" and blah blah. Maybe it's time to change the coding and add more to all characters then![]()
Maybe XIV 2
I mean the next MMO I make and I don't mean a 'reskin' off XIV to a realm reborn but a whole new MMO.
And let's hope SE invests more money into better server infrastructure because currently (now that they dropped PS3 suppport) we are limited by bad server infrastructure.
As for more on topic I don't really play or plan to play a lizard but I guess I don't care if they added green scales ... as long as they won't cut other content development because you know we already have 1 dungeons less.
Because y'know you don't pay my sub and chizzle like that.
For each option added it's multiplicative of the data needed to allow said customization to exist. If you have 10 options of 10 that equals to 10,000,000,000 options. If you were to have 11 options of 10 now it's 100,000,000,000 varieties. That's how easy it is for data to exponentially increase just from adding an additional option.
And sadly the way code is written for FF14 those added options really do present a huge problem for the game. There is a reason Yoshi-P had to beg for money to upgrade and move the servers before Stormblood was released. It's unfortunately going to be a liability going forward for them, because while using 1.0's base to launch 2.0 in record time probably saved this MMO it certainly did it NO favors in the long term. For each option added it's multiplicative of the data needed to allow said customization to exist. That is the number of possible combinations, but you never need to store all of them anywhere. Actual amount of data needed would not increase anywhere near as much. (Going from 10 to 11 options is just an increase of 10% in storage needed for options.)For each option added it's multiplicative of the data needed to allow said customization to exist. It's not just probably awful to code into xiv's spaghetti code, but also not exactly lore-friendly
dank meme
With the code I agree - thats most likely the problem here anyways (its already the reason horns and faces cant be seperated - if I remember correctly Au Ra are already one of the races with slightly more options than some others, so that might prove to be even more difficult)
Lore-wise I dont really see your point - they could always limit the colour-spectrum to colours that match the lore, just how skintones are limited for each race.
