So SE.. Hows your new wards working out?

Even if SE gives you 100 wards i already see new topics "more large houses", "more Shirogane wards"... the fact is you have a culture of entitlement and complaining. But with the last patch you lost big part of support from other servers and now you are almost alone in your "fight", like some weird version of Don Quixote against windmills.

" the fact is you have a culture of entitlement and complaining" That has nothing to do with wanting a house. We all pay the same sub give or take $2. Instance housing is the norm for most MMO's. Those who are complaining about housing is because they feel like they are not getting the most out of the game.

There should have been set rules in the beginning when SE created this style of housing. There is no reason for a single player to own an entire ward of houses. Yes it's true there are players who own an entire ward of houses. Why? For personal homes you should only have 1 house per server and up to 2 house per account.

This is not entitlement we all pay the same sub and we all should be able to enjoy all aspects of the game. With that said its not possible to give every player a home with the current system. So from this point on SE should create mog wards that holds plots for players that are willing to buy a house on the mog station. $10 for small $15 for medium and $20 for Large homes. That way the player actually pays for there HD space on the server. Limited to only 1 house per server and up to 2 houses per account. Also, these new wards should have plots that can adapt to the players choice of style home (small, medium and large). If a ward can only hold so many large or medium homes so be it. Close them off and start a new ward, If players are actually buying Hard Drive space on a server then they should be able to add more racks/servers in the DC to accommodate these requests.

I know it sounds like i am contradicting myself but with the way the housing is in this game FFXIV will go broke just by trying to create server space for every player that wants a house. So the only real option is to sell housing plots on the mog stations... Just saying it may be the best route to make most players happy.

Seriously though, adding new wards changes NOTHING. People are still able to bypass the new rules. For example a couple faux FC's on my server brought up so many houses in almost all the residential areas. They are taking advantage of this because its not against the rules to do so, hence why not alot of people are able to find housing still. Relocation is like a cheat code for ppl with housing already, and the random timer lockout on housing raises the housing wars to a new level to the point that people are fighting and cussing each other out over this(saw this a many times on my server.). Something has to change, otherwise this cycle will continue and tensions will continue to mount.

There's still houses available on my server (4 just in my ward alone, granted it's Goblet). I'd say it has been the most effective housing patch yet. Could more still be done? Of course. But this was a decent start to fixing the supply/demand issue.

Unfortunately, when it comes to servers such as Balmung, unless they lock it permanently or find better ways to get people to leave then there's never, ever going to be enough houses to meet the demand on servers like that. Solution? Don't roll a Balmung character, or simply leave for another server. It's easier said than done since people have put down roots and all, but...it is what it is.

I logged in early and rushed my plot down but frankly I didn't even need to. The new amount of wards seems to be more than enough on Lich.

I mean sure Shirogane got snatched fast, but that's going to be expected. I didn't even bother with trying to get those plots. I'm more than happy being right next to our FC house.

Empty plots here, unless your Balmung (lol) you can get a house. I literally bought an fc member a house so I could get some neighbors yesterday.

The update, while not perfect, has been very effective.

There are clearly only a few servers which are just so highly populated or overpopulated that are having supply trouble. There is even a census thread tracking daily updates to available houses with numerous servers reporting hundreds of houses still open.

It is safe to say if they took a general survey of reception from players across all servers, it would likely return as mostly positive. I have already met so many people who have switched to my own server for housing opportunities. Housing was an important priority to them so they came and got what they wanted. Now they are happy campers with no regrets.

I'm sure if SE took a poll across all servers the reaction would be mostly positive. There were a lot of angry people when individual players were not allowed to purchase homes. However, not that the moratorium has been lifted, pretty much all the complaints are coming from people on the same one or two servers.

It would make no sense for SE to add housing when they're wards on other servers that are half full or ghost towns. They need to solve the population disparity between servers first. Then they can sit down and decide how much housing the average server needs and how often they need to add it based on growth. They may eventually need to do what they did in FF XI, give people fair warning, offer some incentives like a couple of wards just for transfers (if possible) next time they add housing, and then split these high populated servers.

But adding more wards will just give a lot of the other servers more empty plots. Larges and mediums occupied but all other plots empty.
