I'm the first person to say that I don't believe Balmung deserves special treatment and that they should look elsewhere if they want housing, but this is unnecessary. If your sole argument is "wahhhh I think what you do is dumb", it's not contributing to the conversation.

You are not the first person to say they do not deserve special treatment. This thread has already long reached the obvious conclusion that this patch was extremely helpful and very successful for a majority of players. Balmung has it's own unique problems, and nothing can be done about it. Many people have come from a number of different servers here to validate the results of this patch and it is overwhelmingly positive.

OMG! I need a cardboard box minion now. Like a Plush cushion, but a cardboard box instead. I already know half a dozen places I'd sit in it in Ul'dah. And a few ERP FCs it would be fun to sit in front of/ near. This would be amazing!

And balmung is actually the least populated server (in total active/inactive characters). For active players, it's only slightly above leviathan, cactuar, and gilgamesh.

The cause is roleplayers, they want houses to make rp spaces. Isn't mateus all sold out because of rpers?

Poor excuse as you can rp anywhere on any server, there's no reason for Balmung to be considered a RP server, people just make up any excuse they can to stay on the server. I also don't get the need to rp on a game that's already a RPG, if people need to RP why not just get a tabletop game like D&D, there aren't any restrictions to anything, you can homebrew anything and RP to your hearts content, even if you're located in different parts of the world there are sites dedicated to this sort of thing.

Having played on other servers, I can absolutely guarantee that there is no other server out there with an RP community as large or vibrant as Balmung's, there is no other server with community RP events almost every night, there is no other server where you can even have a chance of having a random walk-up RP (except maybe on Mateus, you might get one once in a while). However, the fact that you honestly suggested people just go play D&D instead of RPing in this game shows that you really don't know what you are talking about in regards to the RP community and how it works.

RP is a reflection of life, where you act as if your character is a living person. In life, most people don't have their own house. They've got apartments.

Is a house going to be more fun? Sure, but my real life friends and I used to throw some wild parties in our real life cramped apartments just the same.

RPers are certainly capable of doing the same while talking about their dreams of being able to get a big house some day. Lofts can be created in apartments just as they are in houses to add additional floor space with the Riviera Wall Shelf and Zabuton Cushions making effective staircases (probably other items as well).

I understand the desire for a house but not having one doesn't get in the way of RP, especially with apartments an option.

Roleplay servers are formed so roleplayers can find each other and create thriving RP communities.

You probably should take that bad attitude to a non-RP game.

While I understand the frustrations from RP'rs, they have to understand that the need of a house is but vanity.

If you do not have a house, you RP that way and that is simply the way your character is, you can have your home at an FC house, or an apartment, or in the sewers of Kugane if you chose to... "The need" for a house if you wish to RP is simply preposterous. I am 99% sure that the vast majority has bought a house on Balmung by rushing to the placard without RP'ing it in the first place!

This discussion with Balmung players is going to go no where. Balmung players are NOT going to get what they want no matter how much they kick and cry for more housing the way SE set up housing prevents them from adding more wards on a SINGLE SERVER if they add more wards to balmung they add more wards to EVERY SERVER. Now you may think "well whats the problem?" the problem is those servers with a fraction of balmungs population all larges and SOME mediums would be sold leaving small plots on every ward unsold leaving hundreds if not thousands of houses unclaimed making the wards themselves look bare this is adding on top of the problem there are plenty of housing left on servers to be bought.

Yes it sucks the way SE set up housing and instance housing would have been way better but they are not going to change it now. So for you balmung players either you stay on your overcrowded server while you fight tooth and nail for a house like everyone else or you and your friends find a server with a community of RPers and transfer. The amount of crying about this is mind boggling like I and others have said you got two choices stay and be stubborn and hope they change housing(which is very highly unlikely) or transfer with your friends and get what you want. You can't have your cake and eat it too...
