I do like how "worst FF ever" keeps shifting around through the generations and platform lol.

I suppose it comes down to what we consider a real FF game. Do we include any game ever published with the FF name attached?

In that case, FF:MQ wins hands down.

If you are talking the main (numbered) franchise, then FFII is the worst.
