Mogstation already logs everything - even if you use a code someone provided you. You can find it all in Payment History. The data is already there.I kinda expect it to be difficult to have an NPC track down Mog Station purchases.
That being said: I would also expect the Mog Station to keep some sort of record about what you bought. So maybe a feature there that lets you re-order anything (free of charge, obviously) thats not getting used up (so stuff like dyes, wedding bracelets etc.) there could work better?
This seems like the most logical solution. Personally I think each Mogstation outfit should have this achievement system so you can get them back if an accident happens.
Or just make the items so you can't discard them. That's by far the easiest solution.
Of all the things a gaming company can get wrong, this is very minor. But I do agree it should be better.
This is an excellent solution. Would also help if you weren't sure if you bought something. Instead of going to a retainer or the armoire, just check your 0 point achievements. Certainly would help people who play multiple characters.
Doesn't solve anything related to wanting to use Mog Station items with the Glamour Dresser though. That's the reason they should be able to be destroyed, because of the dumb system this Glamour Dresser uses, that it needs to destroy in order to work. Just reading my own words there, I can see why many are put off playing with this new system.
I would love this. I lost my wedding outfit by mistake and i would love to get it back without having to remarry my spouse (we would like to keep our marriage streak going XD)
I'm pretty sure the wedding outfit is reclaimable by calamity salvager since its not available to outright buy on the store.
Also you can send in a ticket, SE will always refund someone 1 mogstation item but thats all unfortuantely.
*nod* I don't buy cash shop items and this is one of the reasons.
The 2 solutions proposed here would absolutely work:
Re-purchase (at no cost) option in mogstation, no in-game NPC
0-point achievements to make use of existing in-game NPC, ideally with a way to apply automatically for past transactions, but if not with a way to show off to NPC as proof would also be ok.
As far as I'm aware the Salvager only has the option to exchnage male for female gear and vice versa. Since the Wedding Outfit isnt tied to an achievment, he cant have it for sale.
Then yeah, re-order (for free) button should work, I reckon? It should be easy enough to only apply that to gear-sets and would be a nice curtsey since they cant possibly bank on people buying that stuff twice because of throwing it out by accident...

This kind of thinking irritates me because it comes from devs generally (not SQX specifically). It's like when apparently (I might be misremembering) Yoshi's dev team apparently told him it was too hard to introduce indicators (ticks) for items already registered (?), and the moder's didn't even pause to bother to ask anyone to hold their coffee "...job done.".I kinda expect it to be difficult to have an NPC track down Mog Station purchases...
These days you will be hard pushed to buy a pocket calculator with less computer-science capability (hardware and software techniques) than was used to get humans to the moon and back in19791969.
None of these matters even qualify as 'problems'. It's a question of priority or can-we-be-bothered. Priority and resources are not insignificant of course. (Do you want content, QoL improvements, extra bugs, or to pay more money, because those are your choices.)
But "difficult" as in it's just hard to do even if you want to, is not true.
I swear I'm gonna start chat ban-listing people who continue utter the phrase "spaghetti code" every-time anyone suggests 'any' thing might be done. Especially for things like UI 'info' problems. (How these people's world view doesn't cause them serious trauma when a whole new expansion comes out mystifies me.)
You don't have to have live session data to facilitate this info. You can have some data/register that is only retrieved when you visit the salvager type NPC, and when you visit Mogmail to collect your attachment. There is even a special tab for store items, you don't have to consider the work more than some minimum.
The biggest challenge is backdating these affairs. Well the answer there is you don't.
You can just say 'speak to the NPC. with the item in your inventory armory/equipped/added' and it will be checked-in for you.
If you've lost it, log a low priority ticket giving SQX the transaction ID (We will check all your chars game data to see your not double claiming, and to check the transaction belongs to your account).
There will be problem's I've not overcome. But I'm not that bright. If there is harder problem, well thankfully its clear that SQX would only have to swing a gerbil blindfolded at one of their conventions to hit 10 of their devs capable of overcoming the problem.
I am literally not buying store items in the current sale because of this. I have limited glam space, and I can't bear the thought of disposing of something I've paid for.
I'm quietly fantasizing that this is uncle Yoshi's benevolent strategy for discouraging us from going crazy trying to buy up 'everything' in the store and sendig families to the foodbank. Which I have to say would be an overriding reason. It's the only thing keeping me on the fence about this though.
