Is desynth dead?

Didn't they say in an interview that there was a big outrage with the ARR relic requiring those desynth items to complete so they were going to stay away from that? Even the crafted items in HW you could alternatively get with GC seals. It seems Eureka is the only system in place for the relic.

There was a HUGE outrage. Some of us made absolutely crazy money during the relic desynth because there was zero competition. When things first hit our server basically had one Alchemist and Carpenter desynther and I split the profits 50% with them. Markup stayed 500-1000% for a very long time.

My FC members loved me back then sooomuch because they were able to get their weapons constructed at a fraction of the price.

At first the anima crafted items were only obtainable that way, and they just replaced zodiac's desynth requirement with aetherial reduction + specialist requirements for the anima items. But yes later they made them available through GC and also no longer required HQ. In the interview Yoshida noted that crafted requirement saw backlash mostly from the western audience who tend to be more focused on specific kinds of content meaning many do not touch crafting at all, while in Japan players tend to be more comfortable doing everything. Eureka is indeed a new model which may not involve any crafting.

That is unexpected. I wonder what the desynth rate is. If so it might be well worth having BSM maxed if you like to do bird/doggo farms. I wonder if SE will continue this trend.

I enjoy leveling all my classes, DoH/L/W/M all together, and even I had zero interest in the desynth grind. Hitting that stage of the relic was a bit painful since I had expected, with it being such outdated obsolete content, that I could do it all on my own. Desynth, as well as the mastercrafts in ARR, remained a bit high on the difficulty scale.

Looking at the system from my own bias, I'm pretty glad it hasn't gotten more exclusives. I can respect that players that enjoyed or otherwise invested in getting those levels would rather appreciate having a payoff (and maybe if I were further along in crafting I'd be more likely to agree), but I'd be a little more content with exclusive crafting items coming from content that's at least easier to access.

But, I'm not one to try flipping things for profit, so from my own perspective, I just see leveling desynth as a massive sink with little return on investment.

I've leveled my desynth and I made gils while leveling it but now at 330+ it isn't worth at all. The Lost Allagan pieces still give pre 70 mats and Battlecraft III which is worth about the vendor's price right now...

Will Desynth ever get useful again? I feel the concept was great during 2.x but it has died down now.

It's very profitable. Fieldcraft 3 and the mastermateria for fieldcraft go for 40k ~ 80k a piece on my server. I make silver brocade and trade them in for the helm. I desynth that, keep the fc3, sell the master, and turn whatever nuggets I get into rosegold cogs. Any of those tradein's work, though people (myself included) prefer the helm because it's not a unique item for some reason. You can also buy them from GC (though they're pricy that way.)

Well, they like trends pretty often for crafters so... Glass fibers came out in 3.3 as a required item for the crafting set at the time. You could get glass fibers two ways, Moogles which had a daily cap, or from desyn of the blue scrip crafting gear or from the void 24 man drops. So I would not be shocked to see this play out the same way in 4.3 (When we are also likely to get the new crafting beast tribe).

Also GC seals are worth a higher then average amount right now, thanks to Subs and added Housing, but that will normalize over this patch, and if the next few patches require crafter scrip grinding again, the value of that pre 70 mats will once again be very high.

There has to be BC4s coming out soon right? For next weapons made from SB primal drops? I hope so anyway

I wouldn't hold out hope on a 4th demimateria grade, as they didn't add a new one in Heavensward.
