    PS4 - Error "You Have Already Purchased this Game" on the PS Store

    I'm posting on behalf of my friend. He has played the free trial and is about to hit the level 35 cap. He tried to purchase the "Starter Edition" through the Playstation Store and was met with the "You Have Already Purchased this Game" error. We have confirmed that he hasn't actually purchased anything yet, and no money has left his Playstation account.

    Upon scouring the forums it seems this is a common problem because the Free Trial includes the full game, just without the license. I have come across two solutions via other posts that I need more clarification and verification on.

    1. Go to the mogstation and register/add a subscription through the website.

    Does that really work that way? I'm reading conflicting things. Some are saying that you have to first buy A Realm Reborn elsewhere, then go to the mogstation to register the code. Others are saying you can simply buy a 30 day time card and apply it to the free trial.

    2. Delete the free trial, which fixes the error and allows you to purchase the game from the PS Store as normal.

    Again, I read conflicting things. Some people say you have to actually call Sony and have them delete the purchase from your account's history, while others are saying you simply delete it from your hard drive. My friend and I would like to avoid having to call Sony. Also, we dont' want to delete the free trial, just to find out that it actually doesn't work and have to redownload everything for no reason.


    If there are any other solutions, I would also love to hear them! Thank you for your time. I do know that I can simply purchase a physical copy of the game and use the code from that. Again, we would like to avoid this as well because we would like to try to use the PSN store credit before spending "additional" money on a physical copy.

    It's possible to purchase the free trial then basically after that you would go to MogStation to decide on your subscription and how you want to pay and/or how often. The person would however need to purchase HW and SB (well they are sold together anyway) on the store or physically if they want to play the expansions as well.

    On PS4 it doesn't really matter if any of them are digital or physical. Both my ARR and SB are digital, but HW is physical though everything works out fine.

    If the PSN tells you that you have already purchased the game, either you have already purchased it or you will have to contact Sony to clear up any licensing issues. The free trial will not affect this as the Playstation Network will treat it like a demo.
