I dont so much mind people failing mechanics, or at least am a little more understanding of it than other issues in the game. People learn at different rates and i personally dont mind them taking a few attempts to get the mechanics right.
I do take issue with the volume of terrible dps. I think the problem is that the game doesnt do a good job giving feedback to players so they arent even aware there is a problem. An ingame dps or pps (potency per second - scales with gear) would be a welcome addition to the game, so that dps get feedback on their dps. Tanks get feedback when they fail to perform (usually in the form of dead). Healers get similar feedback. It's not beneficial to these dps classes to prevent them from getting feedback on their performance
Ohhh Riyah... You know that I don't post threads based on just a few things. Those are my most recent experiences. And you forget that, aside from garuda ex which is hardly any more difficult than Ramuh Ex was, my endgame thoughts center on clear parties and weekly clear groups.
I'm all for parsing and all that... But I dunno about that because you know... There are players out there focused solely on their DEEPS than anything else. I like the idea... But I dunno about that. It's been said before, but we really need a new hall of novice.

Good luck. Half the time I dont even have my chat up in random groups.

eh yoshi p already said it's ok to be bad and for players to not get upset at others for not being as good and see things as a team effort and try to make up for the loss.

What people think this means is that you should be able to cheese your way through everything, even if people in your group are terrible.
What it is actually saying is: If you are bad, be a team player and ask for help. If you are not bad, be a team player and dont troll/kick people. help them instead.

I don't really mind when players are ignorant, so long as they learn. Unfortunately, that's rarely what happens. It seems many players just can't be bothered to perform mechanics. The number of times I've told players how to do mechanics I notice them failing at only to have them continue to ignore them time and again is just staggering. Especially in cases like Number XXIV where failing mechanics severely hampers them.
I swear, they don't actually want to PLAY the game. They just want numbers to be higher.
I keep wanting to post some long rant, but I keep coming back to one statement: Lead by example.

I pug almost exclusively since I run a very small FC. Sometimes you get a great group that works like a well oiled machine and sometimes you get some who struggle. That's the cover charge for using DF. The game randomly matches players who have a variety of playstyles. I know when I go into DF that I'm rolling the dice, so I adjust where necessary. If I get into a situation where even adjusting isn't going to work, I remove myself. If groups struggle, I put myself out as a resource if I'm a vet, and remain supportive and optimistic if we wipe. If it gets to a point where it's just not going to work, I politely excuse myself. I'm usually the very last to give up. I stayed in an instance of Rabanastre at Hashmal before and watched a raid rebuild from just myself, as others had quickly left once we were under the max, and we went on to clear the rest of the bosses easily.
For me it's because I take ownership of the fact that I agreed to match myself up with random people, and I should be flexible towards what hand I'm dealt.
