    Also Can't Start FFXIV

I have been trying to start the game off and on for the last couple of hours. I am having the same issue as previous threads. I can log into the client with no issue but as soon as I select the green play button and the Stormblood screen comes up, I can't do anything at all. It doesn't allow me to select anything. When I try to exit it, it doesn't even allow me to do that either.

At first, I had to exit the game by using the Task Manager. Now I can't even do that. When I try to open the Task Manager now, it looks as though the game screen does a quick refresh and then nothing happens. I now have to reboot my PC to get out of it.

What is going on? I had no issues last night. Everything is updated on my laptop including the video card. I truly don't believe this is an issue on my end but an issue on the game's end. No way all these people are having the same exact issue with their computers.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Can you explain in a bit more detail what the issue is? You cannot select anything on the start screen, I'm assuming using the mouse doesn't work, but the keyboard will not work as well? Do you have a controller that will accept inputs?

What happens when you try to Alt-Tab out of the game? What Operating System do you have?

Any additional information will be helpful in finding a resolution.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

When I first tried logging into the game today is when I noticed the issue. I can log into the actual client with no problem. The problem appears after I select the green play button in the client and the Stormblood menu screen pops up. I can not select any of the options. I can not select play. My mouse is not the issue. It works with everything else I have been doing on my computer.

I currently use a Windows 10 OS, Intel Core i7, Nvidia Geforce GTX 965m. Not sure if any of that would help.

Between this response and my initial response, I literally can't get much clearer than that. The menu I am referring to is the Stormblood menu screen that appears right before you get to the character selection screen. So I can open the actual game client on my laptop with no issue. Then I input my login information. Once the client verifies the information and the current game (I guess checking for updates) the green directX play button appears. I can then click that without an issue. That is when the Stormblood screen pops up with all the options at the bottom center of the screen. When I scroll my cursor over that, nothing happens. No option to select anything. It is as if there aren't any buttons there to select.

Alt+Tab does allow me to exit out, I was not aware of that option. I also want to mention that when I first started having to open the task manager to force close the game, the task manager functioned properly. Now when I try to open it to close the game out, the menu pops up and very quickly disappears. No idea why that is suddenly now acting up as well. https://imgur.com/a/hCPNh

UPDATE: I have updated to reflect that I am able to get out of the game screen without having to restart my computer.

    Fixed!

I did the clean reboot and it fixed the issue! I am curious what program was causing the problem but glad it's finally resolved.

Thank you for the update SabineMonet.

I'm glad to hear that the clean boot worked. You can enable each program individually to find out which one causes it (if you feel up for restarted your computer over and over).

This thread will be moved to the 'Closed Concerns' subforum as the thread creator has found a resolution to their issue.

Thank you for visiting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.
