Bring back detailed journal entries for sidequests!

Sometimes when I'm super bored in-game, I'll read the journal on past sidequests just to recap on what I've done as the WoL. What I've noticed since the launch of 4.0 is that minor sidequests no longer have these journal entries per objective. Only MSQ, important sidequests, and other quests with a banner in them will be chronicled in your journal. All the text says under the title of the quest is (along the lines of), "hey, this guy's brow is furrowed, check it out *end*"

I initially thought that it had something to do with possibly rushing the expansion to release, and that the detailed journal entries would eventually be patched in, but it was all just wishful thinking. In the future, I'd like to go back on everything I'd done in the Stormblood zones. For example, the events of "Nhaama's Sweet Embrace" deserves
way more recognition than the one line it has.

Please, get the writers on this!

While I agree on principle, very few people bother to go reread Quest Log entries. That makes extremely detailed entries for everything a big waste of time (and thus money); it's more practical to write detailed entries for the important quests and nothing else.

I mean, I only use them for research purposes when it comes to making arguments here...

I'd like more detailed stuff too, some of that info is interesting from a lore standpoint. It sucks that the best way to review un-voiced quest dialogue is by going over quest data on Garland Tools/XIVDB. And even then, the voiced dialogue can't be found there so I have to view the voiced cut-scene in game. Only, it can be really hard to find the quest with the right cut-scene sometimes because the journal entry for the quest it is in is so generic I'm tempted to skip over it.

I get why they've scaled back on generic fetch-quest journal entries for time's sake, but trying to find anything that has to do with lore in this game that's not in a cut-scene is a chore in and of itself. Honestly, the guys behind Garland Tools and XIVDB do more to keep in-game lore accessible then the game devs do, which is a shame.

I’m glad I’m not the only one disappointed with the sidequest entries.
Also lack of battle levequests. I’ve done them all, it was a nice world building tool.

Not even all the MSQ quests get proper journal entries in Stormblood! I was trying to look back at some cutscenes in the viewer but a lot of the quests just have a useless one line description that doesn't tell you anything.

The journal entries were really useful - for reminders of what happened, for reading through and seeing if there were any particular details that you didn't pick up on but the description points out, or sometimes explaining things that you didn't quite follow in the actual conversation. I really miss having them available.

For sidequests, it was also a good reminder of what you were actually doing - having picked up five quests in town and headed out to do the objectives, I sometimes lost track of what I was doing and why, but the journal entries were a good reference for the 'point' of each quest.

Thanks so much for bringing this up! I've really been wanting to go back over some quest dialogue that wasn't in cutscenes!

I believe it was stated in an interview that the reason we no longer get any battle leves was due to the amount of resources and time it took to translate their text into the various different languages that the game supports. I suppose the detailed journal entries for side quests are a casualty of that, too. Which is regrettable...it seems like as the game becomes increasingly successful and more and more items are thrown onto the Mog Station we get less not more on certain fronts.

    Yes, please, this much.

At least make available the quest's text and/or the NPC's dialogue. It's already in the game.
