    Eureka and the Calamities

The Forbidden Land of Eureka is an unexplored, untamed wild where the very elements are constantly in flux. While exploring Eureka and growing in strength, players will have the opportunity to obtain and enhance Eureka gear and weapons.
The first zone of Eureka will be released in 4.25 and is called Eureka-Anemos. Anemos means wind in Greek. But, more interestingly, Wind is the element by which the First Calamity occurred.

It was not until the advent of the Sixth Umbral Era that, by the process of elimination, scholars were able to declare with certainty that the elemental calamity which ushered in the First Umbral Era was indeed connected in some way with wind—possibly in the form of terrible hurricanes, tempests, or tornadoes.
    Now look at this screencap

Trees are peeled back and we can see a tornado in the background.

So this brings me to my hypothesis: what if Eureka is a land that is a composite of the focal points/origin points of each era's Calamity? If so, we should see ruins in each new zone that's affiliated with the prevailing civilization's architecture. It seems this zone might be plucked out of space/time, maybe due to the overwhelming elemental energies associated with it, idk. So Anemos would reflect the what Hydaelyn looked like during that Calamity.

If my hypothesis is correct, Eureka should look like:

    First zone: Eureka-Anemos (wind)
    Second zone: Eureka-Ionos (lightning)
    Third zone: Eureka-Pyros (fire)
    Fourth zone: Eureka-Geos (earth)
    Fifth zone: Eureka-Cryos (ice)
    Sixth zone: Eureka-Hydros (water)

An interesting hypothesis; one we will need more data to assess the validity of. I will keep it in mind!

... and mad props for using hypothesis instead of theory!

There's a theory floating around on reddit that Eureka's going to turn out to be what remains of the Isle of Val that disappeared way back in 3.1. It's got merit, that ruined building has a lot of Sharlayan-esque architectural details (the dome, the touches of teal, the decorative diagonal stripe motif, etc).

Between the 1.0 aetheryte, Krile's involvement, the Warriors of Dawn references, and the Sharlayan-esque architecture, Val does seem like a strong possibility. Though I wonder how Nabriales could have Ultima-blasted it to the other side of the planet...?

However it IS interesting that we're getting wind first; Calamities are the only cycle that I can recall that begins with wind rather than ice.

This is honestly one of my favorite hypothesis for the lore around Eureka. The thought of having a visual and concrete representation for the calamities that we can touch, see, and hear is pretty tantalizing!

I'm beginning to look at Eureka differently now. When I first entered it I wasn't quite sure why people liked the place, it seemed gray and in constant hurricanes/tornados but now when I read this... whoa. o_o
Once I'm a higher level, I will be sure to explore it more. Is this a taste of what was like shortly before Dalamud's fall? Overly strong monsters and elementals?

I recall when Dalamud began to fall the aether was becoming agitated and there was a ton of voidsent being released, like Atomos over the aetheryte camps
