    Unresponsive start screen

I'm on day 3 of being unable to start the game after logging in. After login it takes me to the start page, as normal, but once there I am unable to click anything inside the box. There are no background programs running and I have not recently updated my computer. The only way to close the window is with the task manager. It also doesn't help to switch to DirectX 9. Using Windows 10 Home.

Good morning and thank you for posting on the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

When you get to the Start Screen, you cannot use the mouse or keyboard to interact with anything, correct? What kind of mouse/keyboard do you have? Do you have a controller that you can test it out on?

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!

Keep following Einmimirias advice here, but since the launcher is just a fancy Internet Explorer screen, have you attempted to clear the Temporary Internet Files in Internet Explorer yet? (I'm going out on a limb here assuming you aren't using the Mac client)
It solves a surprisingly large amount of launcher issues. This holds true even if you yourself don't use Internet Explorer as your primary web browser.

Heh, last time I mentioned this, it worked, but the main issue was trying to convince the poor fellow that Windows 10 does indeed come with IE, even if it's just a bit hidden lol. Good times that one was.
(Secretly mentioning this to avoid having to explain that to someone new)

I just tried deleting temporary internet files in internet explorer and it did not work, but thank you for the suggestion. My keyboard is a Dell kb216 Wired Keyboard and the mouse is a Dell MS116 optical mouse. I do not have a controller that I can test.

I just did a clean boot, as you recently suggested to a person having the same issue, and it worked. Thank you for your help.

Thank you for the update FoxyFox.

I would recommend a clean boot. Simply open the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Disable everything here and restart the PC.

You can also try a reinstallation of the game. Make sure you reinstall the files in the 'My Documents' folder as well.

We hope we can be of assistance in helping you enjoy the exciting world of Final Fantasy XIV!
